resizing 204 to 6x47mm help

hey guys i got heaps of 204 ruger cases- i lubed the heck out of 2 an slipped them in the FLS of the 6x47 rem..... sort of worked with just a bit of teasing and then fullk strokes,....
but it has what appears a ring/bulge above the shoulder?
an the shoulder angle doesnt look right.

what else is needed to do with a longer 204 shouldered case ?

or simply size until it fits in, then load some lighter plinker rounds to fire form?

I'll take a stab at this.
The case walls are thicker then the neck, so you're getting thick necks above the shoulder from that conversion, it's common when sizing down longer cases.
You will have to outside ream the necks so they are consistent thickness to fix that.

I've never strted with .204, always .222RemMag. No issues there expanding necks. I agree with Hitzy - you may need to inside neck ream or outside neck turn if the base of the 6mm neck is too thick.
 
This is about it.

That's a bit of a Spew is it not?!

Does it mean that 204 Ruger brass is not going to be worth its while to make 6x47 out of? !

External neck turning or internal reaming isn't a big deal - although the tools needed must be acquired. Only needs to be done once.

I have a RCBS mini lathe thing. orange on colour.

Lock in cartridge base with a magnetised lock setup..
Then hand twist handle.

Am I reading there is an attachment for this to turn necks?

Not tried it with the rcbs, but I have a couple of the Forster versions, and internal and external neck turning adapters. It works well, albeit slowly. I did adapt the handle to use a power drill which sped things up some. Considering how difficult 222 Rem Mag brass is to get, or 6x47 (like winning a lottery), it's not too much effort to keep feeding your rifle I would think. - dan

Yes! I can get plenty 204 stuff an it would be for when my 200X 222 rem mag cases are cooked so I have time to gather items and be that guy who turns fricken necks 🫣🤷

Not ever once thought that would be me.

We all started out thinking reloading was going to be simple I think. It's just when you really get into it or become the caretaker for old or odd firearms that you really expand your skill set in that regard. - dan

Exactly what's happened! Ha ha.

Ive just explain to the partner. I'm not upset about it.
Doing these little tests here an test there, not finding THE load , it's not upsetting me.
It's part of why I took on this odd ball old school... Target Plinker even if 2 inch groups.. play with reloading differences, seating, charges and projies.. it's about .85c a shot, so not end of the world an that's Why I'm driving a delivery truck a few days a week 😎😎😎


Delving into the wildcatters world per say, only with thanks to CGN , I appreciate all of you guys
