What would you guys think the fair value is for a 700 Classic in 6.5x55 that has been drilled and tapped with sights installed, in an ADL stock with no bottom metal?

Owner doesn't want to hear that it isn't a completely original rifle lol. Tried explaining that its a Classic that someone installed sights on and put in a different stock, its missing its bottom metal, etc etc but...not getting through. He's asking $1250 but the retail value on his Bubba is gonna suck lol

Edit: Meh, he blocked me for trying to point this out

Apparently its actually original! At least AI says so. Dude wasn't kidding. They used leftover barrels in 1996

It was never actually a listed item.

From AI .......

The Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55mm is neither an ADL nor a BDL; it is a Classic series model, which is a distinct variation in the Remington lineup.
Remington +2
While it shares the same high-quality 700 action, its features are a hybrid of the two:
  • BDL Style Action: It uses a hinged floorplate magazine, similar to the BDL, which allows you to unload the rifle from the bottom.
  • Distinct Stock: Unlike the BDL’s high-gloss Monte Carlo stock with a black forend tip, the Classic features a straight-comb, satin-finished walnut stock without a forend cap.
  • Clean Barrel: As mentioned previously, it lacks the factory iron sights that were standard on most BDL models.

Interesting ..... So it's not a Classic but a non-catalogued offering in 1996

Apparently yeah! Being non-catalogued, never heard of em! Someone brought that to my attention though. Wonder how many leftover barrels they had to pass?

I've had a Ruger 77 MkII ; Rem 700 Classic & Win 70 featherweight all in 6.5x55mm.

Still have the Win 70 but of the other two, personally, I'd take the Ruger 77 MkII over the Rem any day of the week.

NAA.

I had one… foolishly sold it and have since regretted it from that day until now. Super clean, with a basically non-existent rnd count to it, i mocked it up with that Tasco and there it sat idle for a few yrs. So having a week moment off it went… duh..

**Edited** I won’t say what it sold for, but it was well above the market price of Classics at the time..

ah man, heartbreaker! but at least you got a good price for it!

had a Classic like that too. No idea until now the ADL existed. Can't say anything bad about the Classic at all, except someone cut the butt down to wee size and that took some gettin around.
