Luger Barrels?

x2 - I've been wondering what's going to happen over the next 20-40 years as the 12.6 and below owners start passing on. Seems they'll either need to be rebarrelled or melted. Any current makers?

I have a couple which were rebarrelled, you will have to purchase a 6 inch and have her cut down or have barrels made which are 106mm. I have found it is cheaper to have barrels made only if you are doing a bulk order, 10 or more.

PM if you want to know where I went,

I'm curious

Me, a guy that owns restricted and prohibited lugers, want to know,

if you are able to find a barrel greater then 4", how much are you willing to pay for it?

how much are you willing to pay for a prohib luger, that someone else has to be willing to buy for you?

How much are you willing to pay someone to put it all together for you?

Most people want it all on the cheap. No such thing as cheap Lugers. And even then it's a mismatch.

Think all those 12-6 lugers are going to go cheap in a few years, thing again.
There are dealers out the that sell lugers to the US. Lugers are worth the effort.

I have an Artilery luger (reblued, but a great bore) for sale $1500. Funny how that seems like a lot of money to some people, and the numbers match.

I have a "RED GRIP 06/29" Swiss luger (4 3/4"bbl) that I would let go, but we are talking maybe $2600 minimum.

Before ebay more or less banned certain gun parts, people were parting out matching lugers except for the frame, because they could get more money -go figure.

Unless the americans really want into the canadian market (and the libs haven't banned them all by then) then I'm figuring rebarreling will still be more common in the future. Personally if someone wanted an arm and a leg to act as a middleman for buying the luger, I'd just go to a gunsmith, they can usually get them anyways, and I'd only be dealing with one person.

Actually I did get one cheap. All matching numbers with holster and two matching magazines. The gun is in great condition except the front of the barrel where the previous owner attached a compensator with setscrews. You can see the dents at the front of the barrel.

Now I must admit that I bought this a while ago in 2000 but I would think that $175 at that time was still a good deal. The P38 I got for $150. I didn't even bother trying to talk him down in price. Just paid what he asked for.

But you are right. That kind of deal is extremely rare.

Barry Jensen in Vancouver makes restricted barrels for the Luger.

While visiting my parents in Latvia I innocently walked into one of the gunshops there... Buddy behind the counter was happy enough to show me what he's got on the display and in the back room...Here we go: TT33's(5 crates of them, various years of manufacture from $130.00, Makarovs from around $150.00, LUGERS WERE FROM $200.00(!)...Next time I will ask him to unscrew the barrel and get the rest of the gun imported(if possible) into Canada, just for the badness sake...:D
P.S At the time I was interested in TT's and his words were: "we buy these from Russia and if you can, you can buy(TT's)there for cheaper price..." One can only guess what the original price was...:D And he also asked me, how do I carry my Tokarev...in Canada...ha ha ha. Of course, my answer was:
"trigger locked and in locked case"...
