what knife do you use to field dress your game?

A friend made me this Russell clone as a gift upon my retirement. It was huge surprise and perfect for me in every way. It would work fine for deer but it's a tad larger than a #1 Belt Knife so would serve well dressing a moose. Hopefully this fall. :)

After my dad lost a $300 knife in the woods while we were fishing, we switched to mora companions for just about everything.

I was around 8 and was most likely the reason my dad was distracted and forgot his knife on the ground.

I have access to a laser engraver now so I put fancy designs on all my moras. I also take a power file to the handle where it meets the blade to make it easier to sharpen.

The best mod for a mora is a new sheath. The good ones cost more than double what the knife does, but they are well worth it.
 
Buck 119 special.The grip has 0 texture ans gets slippy. The very sharp point is sometimes stressful to use when seperating the organs from the ribcage without piercing the layer of protective membrane between the muscles and organs. That little gap between the grip and the blade always has me worried that liquids will get inside when I clean it. Also 6" is unnecessarily long (or so my wife says).

But it was my 16th birthday gift from mon and dad.

I use several different knives, but lately have been leaning to two blades.
One is a custom, built by a friend 20 years ago. 4-¾" blade, drop point.
The other later unit is an Outdoor Edge with the replaceable blades. Dave.

I started out with a 6" blade with d2 steel, great knife, but nowadays I find myself packing an Elk Hunter by Knives of Alaska because the grip works so well with my hands. IIRC it has a blade a little under 4".
 
A LEUPOLD Centennial 1907 to 2007. Made by CRKT. It has been on my hip since 2008. I gut with this knife. I skin and butcher with Victorinox knives.
 
Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner mostly these days. It just fits me I guess. One elk and one whitetail processed this fall and she still slices paper in teeny little strips. No idea why.
