Traveling to Vegas with guns

FBI form

No I didn't call the FBI and tell I am coming down with a gun. Was I suppose to phone the FBI. What is the number? Can I get it off the internet? Is the FBI a federal thing or provincial? I will look their number up in the Ottawa area. I bet they are federal.

Without an FBI form 6? (I believe), you can not bring firearms into the U.S.

I'm sure one of our international competitors can enlighten us more, but my understanding is that you need this form renewed on an annual basis to transport firearms into the U.S. as a non-resident.

Otherwise - Do not pass go.

ATF Form 6NIA.

You need either a state firearms permit, hunting license issued by a state, or a personal invitation from a shooting group to attend a shooting event. Can either be a one time activity or regular scheduled event.

If you don't have any of the above, you will not be approved.
If you have any of the above, count on a month for approval from ATF. If you go down to anywhere in the US, especially by commercial airline and you don't have your paperwork in order, you'll probably get a hotel room at a very good rate.

I get confused easily, with all those acronyms, and my advancing age....

But, the gist of it is: No papers + gun + foreigner = Visit to Gitmo

;)

Sorry guys

Yes I have my form 6 NIA from the US Department of Justice. I was just having a bit of fun when I saw FBI:D

My original question and I might have not posed it correctly is the actually baggage at the airline counter. I have a range bag that I was thinking of using that is lockable from the outside and the firearms are locked or should I bring along the safe?

Just a question to get some idea of how people travel with their firearms in regards to baggage. I have travelled with non restricted before but never restricted firearms.

See you down there Mass. I will buy you a drink!

I put trigger locked handguns in a locked (with TSA approved lock) MTM pistol box in a locked (again, with TSA approved lock) range bag.

I put the ammo (max 5 Kg / 11 lbs) in with my clothes in a locked (again, with TSA approved lock) duffle bag.

If you don't use TSA locks, they'll likely get cut off.

Be sure to declare the firearms and ammo when you check in.

You're on!
