Howa 1500 & Weatherby Vanguard Action Sizes

I was under the impression that Howa 1500 actions came in three sizes; mini, short and long. I was also under the impression that Weatherby Vanguard actions used two of those actions, short and long. One difference is that Weatherby uses the short action instead of mini for 223. I bought a new take off Stocky carbon fiber stock that was advertised as coming off a Howa 1500 short action in 308. I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 223. The Stocky stock is too small... It's action bolt holes are 7" apart, the Vanguard is more like 7 1/4". Are there more than 3 sizes; or was I wrong with my assumptions above? Or?

I measured my Vanguard 223 and my Howa 308, both are ~7 1/4"
