Gave the new Eside 28 gauge 3inch sxs a workout today with the pond rats on the bass pond today. Shoots were I point it and has a great full choke pattern with hand loaded 1 1/8 oz copper #4 and 17.5 grains of Blue Dot close to 1200 fps. With a 5.2lb gun and that load I wouldn't like to shoot a 100 rounds of clays with it. But for a field hunt it is not all that bad feels like a heavy load in a 16 gauge model 12 or 3 inch 20 gauge gun.

I was actually quite shocked at the step up in recoil from the 2 3/4 to 3" in 28g in my Franchi. The 3" has a snap and they are factory 1 1/8 ounce compared to the 3/4 ounce I have been using, The gun feels good but can certainly detect
the bigger shell. Rain tomorrow so going to the patterning board to check out the difference.

These 3 inch 1 1/8 oz handloads of mine have a pop for sure but nothing i can't handle for a hunting load they feel no worse than the 2 3/4 1 oz factory loads.. I was impressed with the #4 lead full choked patterns I was getting considering the large for 28 gauge shot size?

Federal and Fiocchi are producing a wide variety of 28 gauge ammo in 2 3/4 and 3 inch both lead and non -toxic loadings . I just like handloading lots of components available for the 28 nowdays

Winchester and Federal also market 3 inch 28 gauge ammunition..Federal has steel and lead.Winchester has steel.lead and Bismuth.
