Thought this might be the best place for this. At the gun show, a buddy has the table right beside mine and is making/selling these mounts. They are machined from solid brass made to mount a red dot pistol sight onto a Henry lever gun. He will be design king and making mounts for other lever makes/models but for right now only makes them for the Henry.

I got curious and started looking into who could possibly have initials "RD" on an old Winchester. So far I've learned it was NOT this one.

Ruger/Marlin - Magpul Edition in 45-70. Added a Vortex Crossfire red dot and the Spearhead Machine muzzle brake. Under the hinged cover in the stock is a six round shell holder. Nice shooter that doesn't beat you up like my crescent butt plated Winchester 1886 does.

I love the short 44 mag lever mare's leg, but the short stock obviously poses a shooting problem.
That, and I just can't get my mind wrapped around all that shinny brass.
SOOOOO, I got down to business, and made things happen.
Used Ranger Point stock, that was modified. Then black carbon wrap on the brass, for a quick solution. Eventually cerakote. Little 2-7x33 on top for reaching out. I did the wrap myself, and 85% satisfied with the results, while not perfect, I don't need to see that brass!
Ammo sleeve on the stock, as I don't think the RP ones will hold the ammo while mounted in the sxs. I see the ammo falling out of those, but I haven't actually tried it.

S&W 1854 30-30, EOTech EXPS2-0GRN Green 68MOA Ring and 1MOA Dot with QD Mount and Blue Force Vickers sling. Great brush rifle.

It's a custom barrel i got second hand from another fellow gunnie.

fix 4 power scout scope
The heavy bull barrel really helps the muzzle flip. Not to mention the recoil is sucked up by the 9 lbs rifle
525 hard cast @ 1450 fps clover leaf at 75 yards
400 gr woodliegh at 1700 .. is maximum velocity threw that short 12 barrel.

Do they call that stock “clustered bench camo” ?
. If so it works spectacularly. It would get lost on my bench for weeks.
