Trap & Skeet Shotgun

I should have been a little more clearer in that, sorry, I meant singles in trap and two on the skeet stations not full mags on pumps or semis.
Many of us shoot doubles all the way around on skeet including Staion 8 so two are always loaded .

When you shoot doubles at station 8, do you shoot true doubles (both incoming) or as a pair, one incoming one outgoing? I hope you know what I mean by that, how about this, do you shoot, turn around and shoot or shoot and wait for the other to pass then shoot as an outgoing ?

We shoot the incomer and then the other coming over your shoulder going away as a sim-pair, usually.

Also done it as a report pair shooting the one over the shoulder going away and then the incomer on report.

You don't shoot at station 8 in actual doubles skeet, buI some people will shoot a double at station 8 as a novelty, if the range allows. If a range allows you to shoot doubles on station 8, you shoot one incoming, and the other target going away. You would have to be amazingly quick to shoot both targets, before either target crosses the stake.

Sometimes we shoot the high house incoming then the low house as it comes overhead.
When I was younger however and faster I could shoot the low house as it came over then spin to the outside and get the high house before it went over the fence.
My knees won't let me move that quickly these days.

I agree barrel length should not be an issue guy wants to shoot his tactical come and try ,he might be the next 694 customer...

In this instance I was the next 694 customer but I would have had a better feel for what is "important" before such a purchase by giving it a whirl with a gun I already have even if it wasn't perfect.

We don't have a minimum barrel length at our club, but what we do not tolerate is more than one round being loaded at a time on either the skeet or trap fields unless doubles are being shot and if a person sweeps people with the muzzle once he will be reminded about muzzle control- empty gun or not .The second time he will be told to leave .
It has happened more in my experience with people shooting hunting guns with longer barrels than tactical type stuff, those guys are normally 3 gun shooters who ate IPSC qualified

Thats exactly what I would imagine. IPSC / 3 gun types are usually well versed in such things.

Back when I could move - I don't shoot international style, but I do start all my stations from a modified low gun position!

What are you smoking? Whatever it is ramp it back a little.

I literally gave you the reason that was quoted to me word for word.
OK, I guess when gun owners ask why we’re being restricted and having our property taken away and the reason given is “safety”, you accept that at face value (since you just did exactly that) without explaining exactly HOW this is supposed to make us safer (unless you are a hypocrite). It is a typical non-answer by people who believe things they don’t really understand or they do understand it but can not It explain it in a way that makes sense because they know it doesn’t.

You can buy a DT-11 Trident for $18k in Canada, do the exchange for $11k usd and you get $18k cdn.... give or take.
The CDN $$ is bad but let's not make it worse than it is $11 K USD is $15.3 K CDN so still a ways away from $18K, I have seen DT11's for $20 - $22 K advertised here in Canada, on sale for $14 K depending on the model

Property taken away?. Show me where I mentioned property taken away?

Being this up tight (about things you appear to have made up or imagined) cant be good for you. Take a few deep breaths and settle down a little.

I apologize for posting above your comprehension level. I knew better and did my best but just can’t dumb it down enough for you to understand.

I don't know what model he was referring to or if he was listing sale prices but Beretta USA lists the Dt-11 Sporing B-Fast at $13,199 and a popular Canadian dealer is listing the same gun at $17,820. Individual dealers can discount the guns if they want to.
The current rate of exchange today converts 13,199 usd to 18,373 cdn. You can nitpick over a few hundred dollars if you like.
Beretta is having more sales than usual on the DT-11 due to it not selling all that well so you can likely bide your time and find good deals.

This is true it seems.

They had a good sale on at the weekend which pretty well wiped out all the GST / PST (I know its an illusion and the government will still get their cut - Carney can breath easy :p ).

Thats how I ended up with a new Beretta 694.

I stopped by my local club yesterday and had a look around (there was a practice going on).

Seems like a stellar group of people, very friendly and more than happy to have another person come shoot with them.

Starting to get the various disciplines straight in my head. They were practising Skeet, Trap and 5 stand. I can now see why people suggested buying a sporting gun as it is probably the best bet for a do-it-all rig.

Seems everyone in Trap runs a dedicated trap gun (high rib and looooong barrels) so that is probably the one I might struggle on with my non high rib and relatively short barrels (30") but I will give it a whirl.

Skeet seems fast and up close, looking at it I kinda feel like I could do OK with my current rigs (with the 21" barrels) but my new gun will work too.

And the 5 stand seems the most diverse. Targets coming from all over the place. Some near, some far, some high, some low etc etc. I hope that my gun will be a good fit for it too. Pretty sure one person was shooting a 694 so thats a good omen.

You will be fine for Trap with the 30” barrels, I usually shoot Trap with an 28” field gun, no high rib, and have shot many rounds with an 18 1/2” tactical shotty with a red dot. I’ve never shot Skeet but will be giving it a try in the next couple of weeks, should be a fun experience I’m sure 😊
Get out there and enjoy that new shotgun you bought!
