I never took, or even considered picking up, that gun for hunting. Its main purpose was to scare away chickens near the bird feeders. Everything changed when I had to be in very low noise mode… I picked it up hoping to just hit the squirrel and scare it away, but instead, it was a two-shot kill.

Shouldn't need 2 shots. It is inhumane.

When I was trying to allow airguns for small game hunting. This is exactly why they were against it. The province suggested that people would use under power airguns to hunt.

Im glad my step father red ryder broke. He would shoot at everything just wounding it allowing them to suffer. Then one day the cops are going to show up because he shoots towards the road and cannot tell if a vehicle is coming.

So it dieseled? That isn't a super sonic crack. That excess oil in the piston that detonated when the piston slammed forward. If a Red Ryder was super sonic over 1100 fps the spring be soo stiff that you'd bend the sheet metal reciever and break the lever trying to #### it.

They might only shoot 350fps on a good day.
 
Was my first gun at 7 years old. Dad would go out with me in winter to the old equipment shed or one of the animal barns to shoot sparrows roosting in the rafters.

He held a flashlight on them and I'd shoot. One shot brought them down. The perfect game suited to the rifle.
Filled a pail with dead sparrows to give the barn cats to feast on. Happy memories.
 
I have done some of my best, and worst, hunting with an airgun. I haven't bothered for many years because there is a .22lr load out there for almost literally every application that will just do better.

I really like CCI segmented 710 fps for that
