Problems with order

I believe it is a line item in your cart whether you want it or not.
I was completing a cart the other day and couldn't delete it so I cancelled out.
you can remove the protection from the checkout screen under "shipping" please do not let this turn you away from ordering! :)

Canada Post bleeding us all dry. Problem is their replacement won't be cheaper.
Well,
The shipping i was quoted for an item at 59.99 was just shy of 30$.
That’s not CP. worst case from CP is a 20$ prepaid which includes tracking and 100$ insurance.

I know different businesses have different models and I sympathize to a degree.
But 50% of the item cost to ship it to me is just a no go for me.

It also enables my local shops to gouge which rankles even more.

🤷

As someone who has worked at a business that ships I can provide some insight. It may seem simple just use flat rate boxes but there is a lot that goes into determining shipping options and prices.

I no particular order here's some points..

Flat rate boxes are expensive in two ways overhead and time. To keep even just 100 of them in stock for preparing orders costs literal thousands of dollars. You also have to hand write everything on the box every time. That potentially doubles the amount of time spent on the packing part of the order. Who pays for the extra time? They also can't be opened without wrecking them if you make a mistake or your customer wants to add another item. Again extra time and cost of operations. Okh you want to cancel your order? Now the business has to eat the time And the $20-30 box.

You can only order them twelve at a time or purchase the amount the local post office has. And many post offices carry limited stock.

The company has to manage multiple shipping options based o n not only shipping restrictions but now also on size for every single product to use flat rate boxes. This is a pita to set up on a website. If the company uses can post and ups that would require at least three fully built out shipping options on the inside of the website. Can post flat rate, can post regular and ups. And the site has to give the customer the right option based on the item type and size.. Not impossible but expensive to set up and time consuming to maintain and add products. Every new product you add has to be programmed to work with that setup rather than just using can post auto integratied pricing which is automatic.

That's a few of the reasons we didn't use them at that workplace.

Now for the reason can post shipping could be more at one biz than another...

Actual shipping costs vary wildly. Maybe someone orders a $15 item and needs it shipped from BC to Nunavut. Can post might actually charge the business $40-50 for sending a tiny box. Or it could be going just down the road and only charge the business $15 to ship. Most of the time though it was between 20 and 30 that the business paid at my workplace not including time or packing materials. That's why some businesses might charge $28 shipping accross all orders for example.

At the end of the day the business has to do what makes most sense and flat rate boxes are usually not a good solution. They are designed for individuals not companies shipping large volumes.

Be careful throwing around the word price gouging. The actual costs to ship items are very often more than what you pay for shipping as the consumer. Wages, packing supplies, rent on the space, utilities etc all come from the profit on the product itself.

Everyone wants everything as cheap as possible. Guess what. That's why we have Walmart instead of Bill's Groceries. Do you want small firearms businesses to be able to stay alive or do you want to be the guy who orders a $5 part and then wants it shipped in a letter envelope and then complains about your favorite store going out of business. Customers who do that become the price gouger.

By "you" I mean everyone. If we want these places to survive we need to trust that they are treating us fairly. Simple as that.

Finely someone who knows the real truth behind how shipping works.

So i ordered a magpull grip 28.99 two crush washers 8.54 and an m4 flash suppresor winch was on sale for a grand total of 74.27 i get my order and no flash hider now you want me to pay shipping plus cost of muzzle device make jt rite please here are rhe pics i emailed you and do the math

I think everyone is going around in circles about shipping costs and not answering the proper question:

Why was the m4 flash suppressor not shopped with the original order? Was it missed by TNA? Was it back ordered? Did OP know? Is OP missing an email in their spam box asking if they still want the order if in two shipments?

Now OP has to pay for shipping twice if they want the M4.

In other words if the M4 was $75.00, for example, the original shipping might have increased to $30 or $32. Now instead of paying about $160.00 for the whole order shipped at once, OP is going to pay $75 for the first half and another $110 for the second order. Hey, $25 is $25.

I agree that high shipping costs are NOT TNA's fault, but if OP didn't get communication from TNA then TNA should pay the shipping costs for the M4 flash suppressor. If OP knew about the split shipment, then OP should pound sand.

Canada Post will not pick up or insure prepaid packages for businesses. We've already tried.

The OP never actually ordered the item. They were having trouble understanding why their total was what it was, and even after we communicated and explained the pricing breakdown, they still seemed to have difficulty understanding it and ended up making this thread. I think the main point of confusion was the shipping insurance being listed as a separate line item. I think the issue may have been resolved, as this thread seems to have provided them with some clarity on the situation as a whole.

The last new gun I ordered was from a CGN sponsor business that advertised free shipping. When I ordered, an oversize charge, I believe for $30, was added to the bill. I pointed out that their ad and website clearly stated Free Shipping on firearms, and that tacking on the extra oversize charge was a bit disingenuous considering that virtually all firearms come from the manufacturer in a box that qualifies as CP Oversize. I stated that I would be willing to receive the firearm taken down and repacked into a smaller box to avoid the extra charge, and they stated that they could not do this for various reasons. I get that; the cost of doing so, possible liability, etc. so I decided to cancel the deal. They then offered to eat the extra charge and proceeded to deliver the gun to me. I was and am a happy camper. Kudos to them for updating their website to more fully highlight and explain the oversize charges now.

I also had an interaction with another sponsor regarding a very small item for which the online order form wanted to charge more for the shipping than the cost of the item. I contacted them and asked them to simply drop it into a standard envelope to save shipping. They indicated that they couldn't send packages this way due to lack of tracking, but they worked with me and got the item to me for a reasonable fee. Again, I was completely satisfied.

I agree, we shouldn't immediately start accusing shops of trying to scam us. I have had a few online deals that didn't go smoothly due to shipping damage or other glitches, but I can't recall ever feeling like I was being cheated by one of our retailers. That shouldn't be the default reaction when something goes wrong.

Thank you very, very much for the clarity!!

As I read the original post it sounded like a missed item on the order was causing a second shipping fee.

With everyone else focusing on Canada's expensive shipping fees, I wanted to be sure the original post was addressed.
