I tried the 77/44 stainless model. Nothing wrong with the use I put it through. Ended up selling and moving to a lever instead.
Only thing I didn't like was the Ruger rings, and not being able to change up the rail to mount standard rings on it. Can't get the proper adapters from the US when covid hit, so gave up on it.

I have one, the ring adapter is very easy to come by made by leupold, it is not a rail but bases and it allows you to use any rings you want at that point. The one base is extended with two ring mounting locations.
But to answer your question. The ruger m77 in 44 will out last any shooter who owns one. It will my whitetail rifle again this year. I also have the same gun in 357 and it has seen well over 1000 rounds and it’s still going.

Ruger has made some very interesting guns over the years in enough oddball variations and chamberings that some of these guns we've seen in our lifetimes will be worth a lot of money to collectors just the same as the collectable Winchesters there are out there now.
I've owned a Ruger 77/44 for 14 years with well over 1,000 rounds through it including some spicy 300 grain handloads without a problem. The main issue I had with the gun was a very heavy factory trigger pull which was corrected with an aftermarket trigger sear. Removing the magazine can be a bit awkward and takes a little practice to do it smoothly. I started with a low power Leupold 2.5x fixed scope on mine but swapped it out for a Burris FastFire3 using a Burris mount that works with the Ruger dovetails. The combination makes for a light, fast handling rifle.
I have had many 44 mag rifles the very best I own by far is a Remington bolt action 788 in 44 mag.
It will out shoot any of my other ones by far.

I've always thought it would be a sweet little brush gun to walk and stalk deer with up to 150m sorta thing.
In the bolt gun the ballistics are enhanced a fair bit over the leverguns , some of the bullets would dump alot of energy on the deer , or something hard cast lead would put a fair hole in them but lowering the effective range to 100m say.

I totally agree. I bought one NIB back in '81 from Norm's Sporting Goods in Nelson BC. The guy had 5 of 'em upstairs in waiting. If I had the coin
at the time I would've grabbed them all. Paid only $287.oo fer it. Best rifle I've ever owned in 44 mag using jacketed bullets.
Factory Rem 44 mag 240 gr SP ammo in my one gave me a witnessed 3 shot, 1/38" group at 200 yds from the bench at the club. I used it for
offhand gong events with fine results. Only buggaboo with the 788 was the shallow rifling which sucked using hardcast boolits pushed quicker
than 1200 fps or so.
Buddy has a Ruger SS 77/44 shoots cast 240 s thru it with good accuracy as well jacketed XTP bullets too .
