I was gonna ask if that was the norm but I figured it probably would be.

Target focused is typical for the other games I do so should come reasonably easily.

Think of it this way, if you try to shoot a puck into a net, what do you look at, the net the stick the puck?? If you are going to throw a rock at a running rabbit what do you look at ? Shotgun is similar. However, as mentioned, it has to shoot where you look and that is mostly in the stock.

I also use shotguns for turkeys coyotes and big game. A high vis sight for that application doesnt distract at all. I prefer a small white bead as it doesnt cover as much of the target but allows me a more precise aim.
Flying targets I never notice the bead even if its bright
 
I put one of those big Hi-Viz beads on my 690. I found that I was shooting above the bird or over top of the bird, this stopped me from doing that. Whenever someone asks my how I like the big bead? I tell them that I don't really know because I never see it when I am shooting.

I think you have enough experience to ignore the high vis sight. On more than one occasion when coaching I've instructed the shooter to remove the high vis sight and noticed an immediate improvement in their scores.

A friend had two high viz bars on his rib and was lining them up as sights. He shot 6/25 at skeet, so I removed the vi viz bars and he broke 12/25. If you look at the rack at our club, you will see a few guns with hi viz added, but you won't see any of those guns shooting clean rounds.
 
Same thing just explained 2 ways. I shoot low gun (not pre mounted) because I have a difficult time picking the bird up right out of the house. I found with the hi viz bead it forced me to shoot just under the bird breaking more targets. The hi vis bead is only on my 690 Field, no problems when I use my A400, 391, Franchi semi or my Winchester 101's.
 
Trap/ skeet shooting is growing in my mind as I would like to introduce shooting to my girlfriend's family. Her father was working in armory before and he knows a thing or two about shooting. Since we are living in Metropolis area so I guess Trap/ Clay shooting will be easier to access than driving hours to my usual 300m range

Just need a cheap surplus O/U for weekend clay busting. I have my eyes on Baikal IJ 27 however open to other brands. I understand that there would not be an one-for-all shotgun especially with surplus option so I would like to get a trap shotgun first with fixed F/IM/M choke.
