I have a Type 54, haven't shot it much. Ballistically, what is 7.62x25 more equal/similar to in power to a more common cartridges? I've read some say equivalent from anywhere to a .30 carbine, or a .357 {mag or sig?}...seems to pack a nice little punch. & nice if still cheap ammo around.
Czech X25 surplus or S&B/Win (same ammo) should do close to 2000 FPS from a 12" barrel with modest gains beyond that length. Handloads with a stout charge of H110 will probably be closer to 2200. That is not too shabby at all. It should more or less equal the .30 Carbine but with an 80 or 85grn bullet instead of 110.
It's absolutey f-ugly looking but I'm buying one anyways. I've waited decades for a 9mm bolt gun and if this is the only commercial offering to date, then so be it.
I hope there's more options available in the future.
A factory .45 ACP bolt gun that takes 1911 mags would be high on my priority list. The Enfield conversions made by Rhineland were of limited appeal to me.

I'm thinking of making a cheapo modern looking Delisle Carbine out of one. Remove the front plastic handguard, front site and muzzle brake in favor of a large thread over barrel fake suppressor. The fake can would be about two inches in circumference and go back to the receiver. Maybe even a wood stock if they come out and remove the varnish and do a simple oil finish.
What will the asking price be??
