Looking for ideas for shotgun novelty shoots. An example would be like when I put on the quail walk at the Heffley rondy. Two traps about 50’ apart or whatever you choose, the shooter starts between the two traps and start walking and at some point one trap will fire and the other on report. What the shooter does not know is when that first bird is let go. Sometime I would throw the first one after they only took a step or two and another time wait until they are 20 yards out. Looking for more ideas for novelty shotgun.

Years ago, walk up shoots were very common. Most small gun clubs held a couple a year! Seems like a lifetime ago.

What is a “walk up shoot”?
start back at the 27 yard line and the bird randomly gets released so you do not know when it is going to start flying.
If you have a skeet field in front of your trap layout you can shoot "scrap" - trap from several of the skeet stations!
A hard left hander out of the trap house when you are on station 7 is lottsa fun! LOL

Have the birds fly at the shooter to simulate a drone

We were joking about novelty skeet at my local club as a couple regulars have gone for surgery and I have some joint and tendon issues as well as other jokes in the past. I got laughed at shooting skeet in July wearing a life jacket shooting from my kayak seat We thought about having each station a new handicap. Shoot from a wheel chair. Shoot from a kayak seat. A layout blind. An office chair. Do a slight run and push-ups before loading and calling for a bird. Hasn't happened yet but we've been joking about it for a while.

Something id like to try is the springing teal set it up out field start at 16 yards and work back. Each yard each shooter tosses in a $1. Work back a miss drops you out winner takes half the pot the other half goes to the club. Not sure i could gather enough interest in this but id like to try. Kinda like a digweed Jr shoot for bragging rights around the club

It was basically a zig zag maze lined with Cedars of varying height. You walked through the maze and never knew where or when the bird was coming out of the traphouse. You had to move to get a clearing to obtain a clean shot. Hit to advance and when theres only one remaining, you win the prize for that round.

Could break it down to subgauges and hammered vs hammerless for what ever presentation you choose
Hmmmm, we had about 30-40 shooters and I had the only hammer gun and I and my grandson were the only ones with sub gauge guns (barely sub gauge) I shooting a 16 ga hammer sxs with black powder and my grandson a 20ga pump. That would improve my chances for sure 😂
