Best optic for 7mm rem mag Hunting rifle ?

Hey guys!

I got a Tikka T3X in 7mm rem mag, I sold my previous scope (weaver 3-9x40 came on the gun when I got it) to upgrade to a better one, but needing some opinions, info, etc about what’s the best route. I’ve been doing research and looking at a variety of different options but would like some personal advice / experience and suggestions.

This gun is mainly used for big game hunting, and it being such a bigger calibre compared to other hunting rifles, what optic would best be fit? Which one has the best durability with the recoil/vibrations? Best bang for my Buck $$ set up? Best durability for different seasons and types of locations (weather conditions)? Best magnification?

I am familiar with understanding and using different scopes, mostly on my target rifles, but looking to see if anyone’s got other ideas or if there’s anything I should be looking into for more hunting specifically.

I’m all ears, for all inputs! Anything helps!!

I just re-homed my 3200 elite 10x into my 7mm Rem Mag. It was on my 7mm mauser before and like Jay said, the 10x is lots of zoom for my general hunting needs. I would go with a variable zoom, as the fixed power really limits the shots under 50 yards. I like the 2.5-10 for versatility or the 4-16 for longer shot opportunities.

Weight is a big factor if you are packing this gun, so maybe look at that too when purchasing
 
I've got a Swarovski X3 3-10x42 on my ruger 7mm. Beautiful scope. I've got a Burris full field 2.5-10x42 on my Sako .375 and a Burris drop tine 4.5-14x42 on my tikka 6.5 swede. I recommend all three of them. The best cheap scopes I have on a few other rifles are weaver kaspa 3-9x40. Have like 3 of them and for ~$75 bucks you would think they were 400. I've hunted really hard in bad weather with the burris drop tine 4.5 to 14 and it's always been super reliable. I've hunted with the others less. The z3 on the 7mm was my dad's rifle and it hasn't gone through the same kind of punishment as my drop tine, but I'm sure it would be just fine. When I started hunting a weaver k4 or a Bushnell 3 - 9x40 was rocking. They really have come a long way in 40 years.
 
I’ve been using nightforce’s nxs line of scopes for hunting many seasons. They’re about as durable as you can get and punch way above their weight class for value. Just got back from a safari where my scope held zero from being banged around international flights from Calgary to Port Elizabeth. I would suggest to look at that line of glass.

Yes sir, VX-III i in 3.5-10x40mm sits atop my R700 Mtn nicely but also could sit atop a 7mm or 300 something easily enough.
