I just ordered a GG&G flashlight mount for my supernova. So now I need to find a light to mount to it.
I use to run Surefire on my all “tactical” guns back when I was more into the hobby. I’m assuming this is still the gold standard for weapon lights?
I was just looking at a few options from them, but I really don’t want to spend $400+ on a flashlight.
I’m hoping to only spend $250ish if I can. But obviously it needs to withstand the recoil of a 12ga.


Also, it’s going on a 14” supernova. Ideally I’d like something that doesn’t stick out past the barrel.

Any recommendations is much appreciated.

Are you planning to flip the mount so the rail will be on the “right” side (and point back to the handguard)? I wonder if the offset allows that to cycle OK. If not, the “left” side install will almost certainly stick out past the barrel unless a super compact flashlight is used

Honestly, I’m not sure. Is it even possible to flip? There’s a ball detent for the barrel nut. I don’t know if it works both ways. Maybe I wait till it arrives and see what I have to work with.

I’m not sure either. I remember looking at the GGG but from other posts on CGN, the modified CDM MTRS looked like the best option to get the most rearward offset

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I might go with the Olight. I like the Streamlight protac too. But I think the Olight is less likely to stick out past the barrel

It’s also on sale right now on Amazon for $150

As a flashlight nerd and enthusiast I'll made a general observation that at one time flashlights were all cheap crap made, not to function well or for very long, but rather to sell batteries. Then came the golden age of the massive but rather dim machined aluminum Maglites, where they turned up in use with every police and security unit in North America, and with their huge D cell units apparently taped to the firearms of the SAS as they pulled off their famous rescue at the Iranian embassy in 1980. Surefire came next and they had their incandescent period, but it was when LED lights came into being that flashlights really became a mature and durable product. While it's true that a shotgun will deliver a massive wallop to an attached light when it's fired, almost any quality light nowadays is likely to survive for hundreds of shots longer than they once would have, say pre the year 2000.

Edit: I got to thinking about what I said re the SAS taping flashlights to their guns and of course they would never be so amateurish, here's a photo of some squaddies posing with Maggie after the event. Note the hard mounts.

Inforce , Streamlight are good lesser choices than Surefire …I also only run Surefire lights …I don’t compromise..just don’t buy Chinese junk

I don't need another, but for that price they've made me buy another in black. It was less than $175 all in. *Note, these one's don't have the remote pressure switch included.

X2👍👍, To assure that the set screws for elevation & windage did not move I removed them & dabbed a small drop of loctite prior to setting up the parallel zero for the laser.
