Northernrim .22LR Rifles are Now In-Stock!

Thanks again, I'm looking forward to seeing the stock makeover and some tight groups when it makes it to the back 40 or a range!
Hopefully the 10/22 magazines feed smoothly and reliably.

Trigger looks like it could be drilled and tapped for blind allen screws on those front and rear lips. Should be able to adjust creep and over travel that way.

Just got mine with synthetic stock. Looks and feels way better than the JW-15A right out of the box. I dont regret getting the tan stock at all it seems decently built and Will probably give it a nice camo. Trigger is nice and crisp but i do lack comparisons when it comes down to 22lr bolt rifles.

I'm thinking I might go synthetic as well is the stock rigid? Much flex in the foreend?
Good fit to the metal?

I like the wood, like the synthetic too.
Norks are usually accurate enough too.
Probably grab the synthetic as I can do a bit more with the stock, add weight, stiffen it, paint it, etc.

If I grab it from the tip of the forend to the buttstock there is some flex if i try hard enough but other than that the buttstock if pretty solid and so is the the rest of the stock. There seems to be another liner under the barrel aswell haven't had time to take them apart, might do that tomorrow

No it's not soft touch but the texturing feels good. Also has a nice comfy buttpad

Received yesterday, but haven't had much time to check it out. Mine is the wooden 13 incher.

Here are my initial quick check, late night impressions, no disassembly done. We are all aware it's a 300$ rifle, but I'll still aim my comment at what I noticed, not considering the price point.

I understand the ''nice box'' comment, the box looks really premium, I've had 1000$+ rifle come in basic folded raw cardboard boxes. This is matte, almost satin like print all around and quality cardboard. The rifle, extra mag and bolt are secured in semi rigid foam with item specific cutouts.

The wood seems nice as well as the checkering, tho it is mostly for looks as the texture really isn't deep/aggressive and provide little grip. It is overall really smooth/well finished, but I could feel some faint grainy/ really light spikes in the finish (matte clearcoat?) in some small spots. As mentioned by other users, the staining finish is lacking in the inside.

Action, chamber, bolt release and bolt body/face really reminds me of my NS522 I had years ago (shouldn't have sold it duh...). I can't comment on people stating it resemble the CZ as I haven't held one in years and haven't owned one.

Mags are pretty much identical to 10/22, appears a little cheaper in some aspects, but not much. They're cloudy/matte clear polymer.

Mag release seems to work somewhat like the 10/22 and appears to be metal (was late, not 100% sure). The spring tension was stronger than anticipated to release and movement was really not drop free. The removal and insertion of the mag was somewhat tight and gritty, tho not difficult.

Trigger guard (polymer) is huge and looks a bit odd, but not terrible. Will definitely accommodate gloves no problem.

Trigger had really short gritty pre travel, wall, relatively light and super clean break. little to no post travel that seem to be the result of a really strong return spring. Definitely a nice start and something I can see being made excellent with a little work.

It didn't appear to be crowned, no clue on the threads as it was so late. The thread protector (steel, knurled) is odd. It's kinda ''capped'' like it was made to protect the absent crown, but I see it more as a carbon/dirt trap...

Action is ok, what you can expect from a chinese 22lr. Feels like my NS522 and NR-15 when new. OK ish fit, a little gritty, somewhat hard/needs more force than one can expect to lift and close the bolt. We'll see with some work and break in.

All in all, I'm satisfied and could even say positively surprised/impressed considering the price point. We'll see how that feel move once it gets some range time.

Great summary, thanks.

Thanks for getting some photos up gents, that really helps everyone out.

This looks like an interesting mix of Scorpio receiver, sights (on the 20" models), trigger, and barrel, with a modified Scorpio bolt. Add in the 10/22 magazines and a pretty nice stock in either the synthetic or wood. Well done, North Sylva, or whoever spec'd this rifle out. The wood stocks definitely look much better than previous Norc products. The stock inletting looks very well done.

Also impressed that they built an aluminum block for the inlet at the front action screw. How many North American manufacturers would do this?

Wonder if the barrel tray in the synthetic stock is removable to allow for an easy heavy barrel swap? The barrel looks like it has CZ455/457 style grub screws to receiver. Interesting.

If it shoots as well as the Scorpios did, definitely a win.
