If you don't have nearby gun store, maybe try a 'sponsor' of this forum. What do you want it for ? Semi or Bolt ? Tenda has a 'deal' on a Kral KR22 semi plus 500 rounds of Aguila for $239. And if you add $60.01 to get free shipping - $300, just add another brick of some other ammo. For a bolt action, I'd go with a Norinco NR15 for the same price BUT no Extra 'free' ammo. Beyond these you go over $250 and there are lots of choices. Bolt actions are inherently more accurate, altho brands differ and Price isn't always a measure of Quality. A Savage MKII runs $389 and UP$ and a Savage B22 from $419 and UP. The Rugger 10/22 starts at $379 and goes UP too. These are a few of the 'entrance level' 22s at Tenda, a good Vendor, esp for ammo if you buy a bunch OR add ammo to a low-priced rifle to get free shipping. Shipping ammo isn't Cheap, if bought by itself.

you have a couple of options. 1 - Research, then roll the dice and order and have delivered. 2 - ferry ride to van isle and hit up bass pro in nanaimo - and handle stuff - get a feel for what fits your needs (fit, finish and feel). 3 - go to lower mainland (ferry ride to cut time i suspect?) and hit up one of many shops there ( Reliable Gun are great people. you can also check out Italian sporting goods).
if you are buying a $400.00 gun - then the roll the dice part is reasonable. if you are buying a $4000.00 it's worth the boat ride and drive - make a weekend out of it.
