What’s cast on it?

Anyways a new rail is right around $100 USD. I cut it, smoothed it all out. So much cleaner, slimmer and IMO balances better. Even if I still wanted a forward mounted scope, the rail I cut off can still be used just minus a bit over the ejection port just like the Ruger gunsight scout.

Just kidding, it's nice to see people not afraid to customize things to their liking, not everything has to be about re-sale price and some people like getting deals on bubba's left over lunch.... :)

The receiver. All Rugers are cast receivers.

Well, why not make it what you want? I’ve modified many rifles over the years, never lost any money by much anyways.

When I do anything it is done without bubba practices, ask anyone here who knows me.

I thought maybe you were just going to shorten the part that extended forward of the receiver but it looks like you got rid of most of it..... the contrast in the picture makes it a bit hard to see clearly but over all I'd say it looks pretty clean!

Is there enough left to mount a red dot if you wanted to?
How many bolts in total are there for the rail and peep sight?

I’m not a red dot guy. No there’s not enough left. If I wanted to do that I’ll just order a new rail. Still lots left to do a scout scope, it would look just like the older gunsight scout With the rear sight, and forward of action picatinny rail.
 
Here is what it looks like now minus the proper cut out for the mag release which I did the other day. Stippled the stock for positive grip with sweaty hands. Still a bit of work to do on the sights but it’s almost there. Stupid savage blade removed and trigger tuned to a crisp 2.5 pounds.

Smoked a badger with it the other day and missed a running yote yesterday morning. Opted out on a few curious coyote pups that were watching me yesterday, had a laugh as I said to myself, “I’ll get you later”. Lol
