Marlin 336 3030 stainless steel value

That Stainless Marlin lever gun in 30-30 is easily worth $1500.00 in todays market. It appears to be in nice shape....
Lever prices have definitely changed. I remember when they were half of the price of a bolt gun.
When was it made or who made it?
Does it have the “JM” barrel stamp?
Prices in general are way up but it’s reflective of our dollar devaluation and the current costs of new replacements.
Everything is up and too expensive but used levers can offer a savings when looked at in context.
If it is in excellent condition and if you want it you could look at it as a bargain, and in current market conditions it is…

That's not a lot of info to go on: Get more info from the seller.

Is it JM stamped , OR does the Serial number start with MR (Remlin) ? OR is it a New Ruger made 336 ?
I see it has the crossbolt safety which for me is a distractor
If it's a Remlin I would guess in the 12 to 1500 range. If it's a JM stamped Marlin rifle 1500 on up to ridiculous
If it's a New Ruger prices are beyond stupid

Many things have doubled in cost in the last 5 years.
That gun probably sold for around $850-900 originally so it's inflation rate is a bit below many other items.
The fact lever actions got popular after Yellowstone just adds to the "Justinflation"

The lever action craze started long before Yellowstone my friend. Movies like Jurassic Park and Wind River were definitely a catalyst as well.....
Especially for the stainless 1895 Marlin in 45-70!Cowboy action shooting has also kept this interest in lever guns as well.

A Classic Stainless Ruger/Marlin is only available in a 45 Colt. Which is also a 250th American Anniversary Model.
A Stainless SBL in 30-30 is pretty much the same price as the 45 Colt above. USA retail is $1600.00. Canadian these models are usually $2200.00 or more in some areas.

Ruger/Marlin does not currently make a Classic Stainless model lever gun in a 30-30. Only blued with wood stock & fore-piece.
I have owned JM Marlins, Remington Marlins, and Ruger/Marlins. As a rule, the Ruger/Marlins are normally the nicest of all three. To date I have owned one real bad JM Marlin in a 1894 Classic in 357 Magnum, a very very bad Remington Marlin Model in a 1894 Classic in 44 Magnum, and a bad Ruger/Marlin 1894 Stainless Trapper in 10mm auto. That 10mm needed 4-5 hours of a cowboy-action polishing & honing job to make it work. After that, it was awesome.
Most Marlin lever guns of all brands can be made to shoot. If one spends enough time or money on them. However I would not have thought a $2500.00 Ruger/Marlin would need a five hour polishing job in order to work properly......
Unfortunately firearms manufactures can have lazy, drunk, stupid, stoned, or careless employees, a Friday built rifle can sometimes be a bad gun as well....
Ruger/Marlin is under a lot of pressure to produce thousands and thousands of lever guns. Each time they release another new model, or new caliber, this can create a buying frenzy. As a result, quality control can, and has taking a dive. It's a reality that is a crying shame. Especially when one pays $2000.00-$3000.00 for a factory made rifle......

I forgot to say those pistol grip lever Marlins can sometimes bring a premium. Lot's of folks prefer the pistol grip design as it can feel better in one's hands and can also reduce the amount of felt recoil....
In saying this, there are some hard-core classic straight grip fan boys out there as well.
It becomes a personal preference, however the pistol grip models normally go for a higher price than the straight grip design.
I prefer the look of a classic Winchester straight wrist stock but I like the feel of the pistol grips.
I can’t remember when the prices started to climb but Yellowstone aired back in 2018…. No doubt there are other reasons for the rise in popularity ,I’ve always liked them and bought many vintage 1894’s and 336’s when they were around $500 used for a good one and beaters were around $350.
