Derya DYBA 9mm bolt action range report

In the photo with the failure to feed, it looks like th no e magazine isn’t seated properly, you can see the mag catch:release sticking out where it locks in on the magazine catch “Notches” on the mag, you should hear an audible click when you seat the mag, also with the bolt open make sure you’re not over inserti the gg rip
Truly lol ppl op
The magwell has been fixed, will definitely check and see if feeding improves with it working properly

I only ran a few mags in the backyard but the sights seem to be on despite appearing a bit crooked. I think it feels good to shoulder and to hold for that matter. So far I am happy but I need to get an optic on it and start shooting it for real.

Even cycling the bolt slowly shows very enthusiastic ejection with my rifle. Cases fling 5 feet at least. I only ran NATO spec 124grn and my own W231/124RN loads so I didn't see or expect any feeding issues. I cant speak to accuracy past 7 yards but like I said, the sights were close enough to POA. So far so good for me.

Just wondering, from what I’ve seen in screenshots on shop websites it looks like there’s no rear sight, so I guess you’re supposed to use the picatinny rail section on the receiver as the rear sight? Which you would think they’d at least put a rear sight on the longer barrelled version haha! Can you hit anything with using the basic “Sights”? I would say to put a fixed sight on the rear of the receiver but I think it wouldn’t line up properly as it would sit taller than the front sight, one could maybe put a low profile peep sight on ?

Before fixing the magwell there was no “audible click” the thing fkn sucked we were able to get it into the “notches” but it was never perfect. Now there is an audible click. And the mag catch still sticks out that much. I’m not carbing out each mag to ensure the mag catch sits flush with the body

I mean all good ideas and observations. Hopfully this does help with the feed issue too. Local range is closed all week. So next test will probably be next week

You’re overthinking it. The pic rail is the rear sight. I never fired it without an optic. So I can’t report on that.

I hate it when I over insert my mag!.....;)

Update. I saw someone mentioned there sights weren’t aligned. We’ll touch on that in a moment.

I completely stripped the rifle today. (I did not remove trigger group) but holy aluminum. This thing is solidly constructed. I’m very impressed.

Separating the top and bottom receiver pieces was a bit of a pita. I had to put the lower in a vice and wiggle it apart.
But noticed the barrel was loose and able to rotate slightly too. So that’s why the barrel came off too.

Having it apart I was able to get a better look at the magwell. And it was 100 times easier to file. So I touched it up a little more.

When I reassembled the rifle I just put the barrel in and cranked it down.
Before the bolt always had like a “step” to get passed closing the bolt. I thought nothing of it. Turkish gun it’ll figure itself out yadda yadda.

But after reassembly the bolt was insanely tight getting in. I managed to close it. But then it was stuck it wouldn’t come back out. After a bunch of willing and pulling and turning. It did eventually come out but was still tight.
Saying this cause I feel it may be an issue with these going forward. I backed off the barrel nit and it was free. So “indexed” the barrel in the smoothest position. And cranked the nut down again.

This thing is butter smooth now. Highly recommend looking into if anyone has issues.

I don’t think the receiver ever really needs to come apart other than to service the trigger. I did it cause the grease constantly oozing out of between the parts was enough to bother me. If you can live with it. Don’t split it.

The bolt. Overall looks fine. The cocking bit rotates on threads wich I found interesting.
The extractor pin is free to move and come out wich I found odd. I may peen it if it becomes a problem.

All in all. Easy gun to take apart and clean.
Thiught I’d give another update.

Something I am really not a fan of is the sling swivels being part of holding the gun together. I went to just pull them because that style of swivel is useless to me but I guess they will stay.

Wouldn’t be hard to find screws. Or new studs

Rear one would be easy to switch to a sling studd as they make the wood screw ones. And front one just change to a screw and add another hole for a stud swivel in the forend

Rifle showed up, looks well made though the bolt is rather stiff and the barrel is canted to the left a little. Barrel wrench doesn't hold tight enough to loosen the barrel nut to try and straighten it out. I was sort of expecting this sort of thing, hopefully it shoots ok.

Read entire thread for some ideas.
On my kitchen island I layed the receiver down and put my weight on it. Then used barrel wrench in opposite hand pushing down too. You’ll get it

I have a can full of swivels and stock screws, somewhere. Hopefully I find something flush or useful to swap them out. I did sort of assume it is some sort of proprietary thing I was gonna have to figure out but I may be overthinking things. I had planned to work on the gun and do some shooting but I sat in front of the TV doing #### all instead. Maybe tomorrow...

Barrel cant is for shooting around corners, well left corners anyway!......:ROFLMAO:;)

Got it, took the receivers apart so I could use the vise to hold the upper then used a hammer and punch to get the nut loose enough for the barrel wrench to work. The Allen bolts holding the receivers together were dam tight. Overall I like the design so far but keeping the barrel level while tightening is a bit of a pain. Cleaned it all up while I had it apart, hope to try it out tomorrow. I haven't messed with the mag well yet but I can see why it would help.

Yes, this bothers me as well. I have no intention of ever using a sling so I will be making or sourcing regular screws to hold it together. The sling loops on it now are bulky and rattle without a sling on so I want to get rid of them.
