Do you ever have a dream and wake up and think I've got to do that? Now!?

Not talking about the sister-in-law or the neighbour's wife!

The other night I was dreaming about hunting Caribou... in Newfoundland.
Got up 04:45, started watching all these NL Caribou hunting videos on Youtube.

Progressed to looking up various outfitters.

End result I contacted an outfit that's had a cancellation for 2026.

Reached out to them, got an email back, phone conversation this morning.

And damn! I'm booked! Heading to NL to hunt up on the Northern Peninsula last week of October.

Outstanding, and congrats!

So this is not for Woodland Caribou on the island but for Quebec-Labrador Caribou on the mainland, yes? I was saddened to hear about the collapse of the Quebec hunt, so its wonderful to hear about this opportunity. Keep us posted! Is this herd migratory like most others, or is it more or less a resident population in that area?

Congrats! That will be an awesome hunt!

I have been dreaming of doing some hunts since I was a teenager. It hit me last year that at 47 I could be dead any day now. Time to get some of those dreams going! Booked a hunt in England for this fall, a caribou hunt in Greenland for next fall and then Namibia the fall after. We'll see where life takes me from there but I'm hoping to do a few more yet.

I also went to WA last fall for a DIY OTC blacktail hunt but was unsuccessful so as soon as I'm back from England I'm heading back for another try. Been dreaming of doing that for 10yrs so hopefully I can get it done this fall!

Acting fast is the way to get it done. It’s sort of a two part thing, if you think a obout something too long a part of your brain starts feeling like its already done it the the interest starts droppng off. Or the opportunity or time slot is gone. I guess there’s 3 parts and the last part is the worst. Wait too long and you might think of reasons to talk yourself out of it. Strike while the iron s hot, fortune favors the bold😀

My hunt dates are now confirmed; Oct 18-24, near the end of the rut.

I fly to Deer Lake, and the guide picks me up there then it's a 4 hour drive up the west coast of NL. That drive is through spectacular country, Gros Morne. Traveled that road in 2024, we went up to St. Anthony and the Viking settlement at Meadows Cove.
