Found at my BIL gate

This rack was on a deer that travels through the yard with three others periodically, two are smaller, one is considerably bigger, but we never saw him during either the archery or firearms season last year.

Those branched tines on each side could indicate a HYBRID cross, making it infertile, so taking him out of the breeding pool and drawing off the breeding does from the breeding bucks would be a good thing.

I am going to assume there are trail cams in the area to monitor for such activity...
Nice rack and be interesting to see the beast either on a trail cam or in a trophy setting.

I wondered about the shoe under the deck. I thought AI?
But upon closer inspection it has no foot in it.
I also thought that was an elk antler set.
Great deer if you can find it.
 
We have a very similar problem in our area. It's been happening for the last 40 years, on an escalating scale.

Compression of ranges for White Tails and Mule Deer from over logging and human infiltration is forcing them to live together. WT bucks are much more aggressive than Mule Deer and get the job done, but it's slowly helping to wipe out the Mule Deer, along with range devastation, such as drying up streams, small lakes, and sloughs from logging Raparian areas right to the shorelines, leaving nothing to hold back the water.

Many other species dying off from the extreme practice as well.

We're between a rock and a hard place with this, lots of bug kill, that needs to be taken down before it burns, lots of greed, lax controls, and policies. It's a recipe for disaster.

The province needs the stumpage revenue, and people need to work. Tough choice.

According to the late, great Val Geist, no Whitetail Buck EVER dominates a mature Muley Buck and what happens is that all the mature Muley Bucks get shot and then mature Whitetail Bucks can breed Muley Does but that it doesn't go the other way because a Muley Bucks won't chase a Whitetail Doe when she does her sprint because their breeding behavior is different.

I've had them on a Game Pole at the same time, a 2.5+ year old (or older) Muley Buck dwarfs just about any Whitetail Buck by at least 50%. I've also watched Muley Bucks sparring and Whitetail Bucks come in for a look, they don't stand a chance being completely outsized by the Muleys. I saw one Whitetail Buck running laps around a small Muley herd (with a very average 4 point in it) with his tongue hanging out, I thought about shooting him just for being so stupid.

Also, I don't believe for a second that those sheds come from a hybrid.
 
I've personally seen WT bucks drive off Mule Deer bucks and take over MD does.

I see it happen every year, in the field in front of my house.

I don't find Mule Deer stupid at all

I have a very similar set of horns in the skull, which I made into a clock for my shop.

DNA tests done by the BC Ministery of Environment confirmed it was a HYBRID

I have other pics of Mule Deer does with WT ears

It happens a lot.

When I first moved to the area I live, appx 65 years ago, we didn't see any White Tails, only Muleys, and they were plentiful.

When the White Tails first appeared appx 50 years ago, Muleys started dying off from the diseases they brought with them, and the Hyprids started to appear almost immediatey.

Not in Alberta & Saskatchewan, both of which I guided for whitetails in.
I have seen numerous whitetails that would go much better at size / weight than most mulies.

Fact.

That rack posted by the OP does display characteristics of a hybrid.

To the OP - If you manage to collect him, please take numerous photos, including the hind legs from the tarsal down and tail please.
