Here you go. I should have brought my a400 out for a side by side, but it's old news lol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look appreciably different from my memory.

This thing cycles everything I've thrown at it. Bolt locks back after the last shot each time. Pulls up well, points well, and I can't outrun the bolt with the trigger. So fast. Recoil is so soft that management isn't a problem at all. Staying on target is easy.

Still, though, I've been trying to figure out exactly why this shotgun exists when the a400 is so good and is still produced. Then I read a thread on canadaguns talking about IPSC shotgun, and I think this is a winner. 3.5" chamber means we can legally extend the tube for like 7 2.75" shells. Pro lifter and the trigger guard angle being like a ramp makes quad loading easier. The loading gate is already huge - bigger and more wide open than the modifications I've seen to other guns. QD sling attachments. This is marketed as a waterfowl gun, but looks like a competition gun.

Anyone talking about this gun being ugly (it isn't) is missing the point. And is missing out.

Was kinda what I was expecting but the size of the loading port sounds interesting - do you have a picture?

The gas system looks similar for sure (looks like the same piston and exhaust bleed off on the front but cant remember if the rear portion where the piston lives had holes and what looks like a sleeve?

I see what you mean about the port being pretty big. For me the most important thing when it comes to the port is the part where your thumb finally leaves the rounds and it may need some fine tuning there (looks on the thicker / chunky side but then again so does the A400).

The trigger guard has a rounded scoop that looks like the A&S trigger guard (have one of those on my Versamax and love it) but the latch for the gate is kinda in the way (again, the same as the A400).

That straight trigger looks darned nice (dunno why but straight triggers are rare on shotguns it seems)

At least these sound like real upgrade - gas system, trigger, slimmer profile, unlike the BS Benelli is trying to pull with its SBE3 AI which is marked up by an additional 1K. But the A400 is pretty bombproof already.

Aesthetics being a personal thing, this Beretta is too superfly for my tastes. Also I'm not loving the plastic receiver, but who knows.

I tried a Benelli Ethos at a sporting clay shoot with the Advanced Impact. I was hammering a 50yrd target with that gun meanwhile I was just either breaking the bird in half or into a few large peices at best with a standard Ethos. Same shell, same choke constriction. I also couldn't resist to ask the Beretta/Benelli rep if the gun uses ChatGPT, Gemini AI, or some other brand of AI.

Ha, maybe that will come out in version 2.0 and it will tell you when to pull the trigger.

Well maybe it is more than just a gimmick. I certainly have not looked into it extensively. Just sounded like something a choke adjustment could generally compensate for without a noticeable difference in real world applications. At the time, dealers were also asking a $1K premium which has now at least come down to earth.
