If you track the price of SKS over the years, you will realize that this is probably the best investment you can make. it was around $120 in 2000, today, it is a whopping $900+ gun. 7.5 times over 25 years may not sound very impressive but if you bought 100 of them back in 2000, which is was worth maybe 5 to 6 months of income back then for most people, they are worth $80000+ today, which is more than most people make in a year. That tells you how much more expensive things are vs how little the average income had increased...

If you invested $129 in the S&P 500 at the beginning of 2000, you would have approximately $1,087.61 today (in mid-2026), assuming you automatically reinvested all dividends

SKS is as good as the stock market lol

If the price of an SKS keeps climbing say buh bye to your hobby. What a dumb metric.
 
I done just that and have been for the last 3 years selling at gun shows etc and making very good dosh.Guns I paid $199.99 at Marstar and it came in a nice case Unissued and sold for $700.00 - $800.00. Also at Canadian Tire for $229.99 etc. I am now down to 3. Just dropped a mint / matching Chinlee with fiberglass ( jungle ) stock and one in a Hush Holster stock at The Gun Dealer in N.B.They will sell easily in a few days.KACHING!!!

Thats a very decent return - almost precious metal-like gains.

In 2000, silver opened the year at $5.30 USD per ounce (January 2000), hit a year high of $5.45 per ounce in February 2000, and closed the year off at $4.57 per ounce.

Comparatively speaking, the average 2000 price of silver sat around $5/oz. The $12,000ish you would have paid in 2000 for 100 SKS's would have got you 2400 ounces of silver, which at todays spot price of around $57/oz, is just shy of $137,000, and that ain't too shabby either...
