I don't have much tied up in this rifle dollar wise as I basically wanted it as a project/parts item but was a bit surprised by the muzzle end of the barrel.
There was no clear close up shot of the muzzle itself in the auction pics and I can have it recrowned if I decide to use it as a shooter, but this does illustrate how things aren't always as they seem sometimes in auction descriptions.
I'm not busting a nut over it but felt that perhaps a shot of the hack sawed muzzle may have been in order.

The auction is very interesting. I've had a couple really good buys and I've had one really bad but low dollar amount luckily.

I agree, some auctioneers can be pretty sketchy.
Recently there was a Remington model 81 at auction, in 300 Savage.
There were lots of pictures which was good but I noticed something that didn’t look right so I asked for a close up of the top of the bolt. They obliged and posted a picture as I asked which clearly showed a cracked bolt carrier.
I mentioned this to them and told them they should probably add that to the description - they did not.
The rifle sold for premium dollars and was unsafe to shoot - and they knew it

My worst was from Wards - a black powder rifle with an obvious bulge in the barrel 6 inches from the muzzle (likely from shooting a short started bullet). Was sold as "with only minor use and handling marks". With only a cursory exam it would have been quite apparent in person, and fully explains why they had a placeholder "boar" for the bore picture.
 
o one gets burnt by auction houses the responsibility is 100% on the buyer to make sure what they are buying
the auction houses are not legally oblidged
Should they possibly do you have recourse no
the new world it's always some one else's fault
i have bought auction items and been stung i just suck it up and don't make the same stupid mistake
