Hi guys, I got Ruger SR22 and I’m interested on upgrading my barrel what’s the shortest legal barrel length that I can put on my rifle

Thanks

Barrel length itself is not the problem, there is no minimum length for a rimfire rifle. The limit is imposed on overall length, which must be 660mm (25.98") or greater in its shortest configuration.

I don't know what barrel length will get you there, but you should be able to measure the OAL with the barrel you have now and then figure out how much shorter you can go before you cross the 660mm limit.

Great sales tactic.
You might be able to get a gunsmith do the work and have a verifier ,verify it for you.
Probably cheaper to just buy a barrel though.
Or just chop the #### er off and throw away the key 😁
If the cops don’t give a fuc about the drug epidemic ,then I highly doubt they’re going to do a deep dive into whether your barrel was factory cut at 12 inches

Yeh, sell sh** that 'wants' stuff to be 'better'. Ruger's plan from the start, not make a good rifle, just OK rifle.

Who says they wanted a better barrel?

SR 22, with short barrels are cool. I put a fake can on, so my hands wouldn't get cover in crap, being next to my hand.

It is not the cops you need to worry about. It's the rats in the community.

I see - so can purchase a new barrel and maintain OAL but can't alter current one?
Correct. No, it doesn't make any sense at all.

Great sales tactic.
You can thank Liberal governments for it.

How is a shorter barrel better? The reason for the 16" barrel is almost certainly the US National Firearms Act of 1934 (and following amendments). It has nothing to do with Kanada at all. Our market is too small for them to care much or do anything specifically to suit.

Last time Ruger made a short barrel 10/22. RCMP made all 10/22 mags 10rds.

Bill Ruger would have been happy with that. When did they make a short barrel version?

Mark
10/22 Charger. Was a 10/22 with 10" barrel and pistol grip. Since it was a handgun. RCMP was like all mags are now 10rds. Even though mags were labeled 10/22 Rifle.

It is why Dlask made the Tuf 22. The cut out allowed use of a run of 10/22 mags used in the Tuf 22 but not un modded.
