Recommend me a new hunting rifle.

This is where I exit the craziness of the internet. I just ttimmed and sized some 7saum brass and now I have to weigh some powder while I load my backpack and organize my meals and tent to go do some actual hunting on my next days off. See you guys on the otherside.

Better attention to detail too IMO. Actions smoother, nicer trigger etc.

Sometimes, that is not just in Europe - Some years ago I was drawn for mule deer - we hunted a ranch that is now about centre of the Grasslands National Park - was not at the time - along the Frenchman River - there were two private owned ranches, basically surrounded by National Park. I stopped at the Game Warden station at Val Marie - they warned me not to get caught crossing into the Park - blood trail, wounded animal did not matter. They had satellites watching the border into Montana - so they could watch you, too. One mule deer buck definitely knew where that fence was - we had to get that one down right away.

Govt Workers say all sort so stuff that isn't true. I know a Snowbird couple that came back from the US during the 'rona, they were told by CBSA that they had to quarantine for 2 weeks and that the RCMP would be checking on them and if they weren't home they would get a million dollar fine.

Man thats a tough one, but I bet if they say you can retrieve your animal once it crosses into the park, you get even more yahoos shooting them IN the park.

in regards to the animals knowing where boundaries are...they sure do eh. Have seen that doing aerial inventories overlooking both private land vs park/public land.

The edge of the "sanctuary" ends up looking like Korea's DMZ sometimes haha

Buy which rifle fits you best and you like the action and the magazine on. Other have stated howa/Weatherby/tikka. All great choices. Tikka is hard to beat for the price, and they are accurate.

As for the caliber 6.5 Creedmoor would be my choice, especially if you don't have a ton of trigger time. It's inherently accurate with all factory ammo, especially when you pair it with something like a tikka.

As other have stated its the bullet you pick that makes the biggest difference, you want deep penetration, so pick any bonded bullet. My top pick is the nosler partition for factory ammo, but even the cheap federal fusion is absolutely phenomenal and lunches way above its price range.

Buy some decent glass, a nice pair of rings, and make sure it's comfortable and set up exactly where your muscle memory shoulders the weapon. Practice in all positions and get comfortable with the rifle so everything is second nature. The more confidence you have in your rifle the better you will be.

I never did find out if Canada Dep't of Natural Resources or USA Air Force had the satellites - I do not even know if there really are any satellites - but it worked! I did not go into the Park, on foot with a rifle. From a knoll top on one of the Canadian ranches, I looked down at a farm yard - the map said that farmyard was in Montana. So, only the barbed wire fence showing where the border was purported to be.

Some years later, on other side of Saskatchewan, South and a bit East of Carnduff, I was checking out a field that a cousin of our son-in-law had planted to corn - not a usual crop, then, in Saskatchewan. The son-in-law mentioned that the fence along the south side was the border to USA - I walked to that fence - dressed in blaze orange, carrying a 7x57 Ruger No. 1. I have a forefather who crossed the line into USA carrying a single shot rifle - I think they burned down the White House that time - I told my boss that I had looked East and West - nobody was there - pretty sure I could have invaded into North Dakota - his reply (a former USA Marine in his younger days) - "who would care?"
 
Brits burned down the white house anyway. Regulars stationed in England and the Caribbean. But wild that you had forefathers who fought in 1812!

Here’s my suggestion. The stainless is onsale for $150 more. I got one of these blue synthetics for Christmas. The first set of hand loafs I tried through it were sub moa.

Edit it’s only in .270 nvm, unless .270 is for you? my POI from 100 to 200 with 130s is less than an MOA with 150s which is really nice.

imo don't buy new, buying used is just a temporary investment of funds. paying the 'new' taxes just seems wrong. and maybe re-allocate a scope you own for this hunt.
and yes, pick a best cartridge not just something that will do if everything goes right
