What to do???

Depending on the condition, refinish it. Mount a nice sight or scope, teach your daughter to shoot and enjoy this rifle together as it was meant to be used; carried afield and cared for that only a hunting rifle can be treated.

Leave the tacti-crap to the others. Congrats on the find.

I just bought a used Winchester M70 in .308. Now, do I keep it as is and let my daughter use it or do I make something interesting out of it? Any ideas?:D

That depends entirely on how much you like to shoot with your Daughter.....as in will it make you happier to see your Daughter shooting with a decent firearm that she is proud of......or would you be happier to have just another toy for yourself to play with.

Personally I myself would opt for having a Daughter that is proud of her firearm and proud of shooting with Dad.

Keep if for your daughter. You can load down a .308win to feel like a 243win. if you need to. Also, you won't need to look for another rifle for her down the road; it's a rifle that she can grow into, not 'out of'.

The plan I have for my kids is to eventually use my 308 Ruger - when I'm not using it.;):D Of course, that is a few years away, but I am prepared.:D
