9.3x62 vs the rest

Regarding bison hunt, up here it ain’t uncommon to go bison hunting at least once a month from September first to march 20th or something like that… but that is up here!

Any resident can do that?

yes one tag until filled but for some it will be harder as first nations are not giving access to their lands ...

Go figure huh? And are they held to the same cartridge requirements as well? I'll refrain from commenting further .So tags are what we in AB call a general tag and anyone can buy one for a general season. I thought you were saying you could buy additional tags after a successful harvest during a calendar year.

one tag for the whole season so you can hunt up to fill it ... they are limited to the same cartridge requirement but one won a court case in using a 300 savage as his only rifle and caliber he owned ... but the requirements here is biaised and 30-06 is not the minimun requirement and i have a factory ammo that meet the caliber .30 and 180 minima ... with a 308 win and even sent the information to the COS for them to be aware ...

AB is I believe 50 tags pulled via lottery. No priority points generated by the unsuccessful.

The big 9 is a legend and I loved mine but I’m not sure it could do anything my .300wm could with a 220gr. I do like that people have reawakened the caliber, it was a legend for a reason .

when we moved here in the Yukon the draw was gone as the population of bison is doing very well but always interesting to go purchasing your tags and having a bison one. what i learnt on the long run is i prefer a calf to the old bulls but so far it is more the bulls winning and like DGY will use the european version of the ECX in 250 grains.

That's right, plus lacks the sharp recoil of the 300 winmag. Additionally, the 9.3 has the advantage of larger frontal area in situations where this becomes a plus.

built a 9.3x62 improved on a husquvarna 1600 that was chambered in 270 ( think 6 poundish rifle)
285 ppu ammo runs around 2250-2300 ish fps
hand loads without hitting signs of pressure with a 250 grain accubond are around 2700 ish fps on a full case of highly compressed 760 powder
if i remember correctly that makes it more powerful than a 338 winmag and right into the margin of error of a 375 hh mag

factory ammo is severely underloaded due to all the weaker and antique actions it is loaded into.
use a modern action and load to 308 win pressures and the personality completely changes
