CZ75B vs S&W M&P (in 9 mil)

I got my CZ yesterday. I am very happy with it but I was a bit disappointed with the mags. Because of the regs in Canada the mags are obviously pinned but the mags has a plastic section (about the third of the total mag length). The bottom is open but the top of the plastic is sealed I will post some picks tomorrow because its hard to explain.

What are you disappointed about?

Mine all work fine . I have 6 factory mags like you describe and compete in IPSC,IDPA,CDP with them.

DEpends on what you want to shoot!
Target shooting? IPSC, PPC... Go with Cz
CCW go with M&P, it is a police service, self defence tool. Shhots well out of the box and is light weight so 10-12 hours of carry is not as much an issue as with a heavier pistol.
The M&P is my preferred "self-defence" pistol.

I own a M&P .40 , just bought a CZ75 SP-01 shadow cause I wanted a 9mm. The reason I didn't buy an M&P 9mm to go with my .40 is simple. I wanted a full size steel frame. It all boils down to what you want. If you want a polymer stryker type pistol, then you can't beat the M&P..if you want a tradition steel frame go with the CZ..

P.S if you decide to go CZ, spend the extra cash and get the SP-01,, or
the SP-01 Shadow if you want to shoot IPSC.

The CZ and M&P are kind of apples and oranges...

The CZ is an absolute classic; How many designs have copied it? I had one, and loved it, but sold it back when the hi-cap ban came in. The safety, of course, can not be applied with hammer down, so consider that if you plan on holster use. Also, I find the slide is hard to grasp for stoppage drills, as it is so shallow top to bottom.

The M&P that I have handled seems like a fantastic tool. Great ergonomics, with those adjustable bits for different sized mitts. Safer design for holster use, obviously. But yes - Plastic is.... plastic! (Low maintenance, however!)

Consider which action you would prefer to operate, get the one that fits your hand best, and practice, practice, practice!!

They are both quality items.

Someone already said it, you're comparing apples and oranges.

I've run the CZ, and it's a niiiice gun. I own an M&P 9 now, and use it in service pistol. It works very well, and those who have shot it think it impressive as well. See Hungry's review of my M&P in this forum.

That being said, one of my main reasons for the M&P in the first place was because it is an ambidextrous piece of kit. And for a lefty like me, that counts.

People can go on about plastic until the cows come home, fact is, it's a tough gun, and will probably out last your interest in shooting! LOL

Tough choice though as they are both nice guns.

Very few guns come now with the all steel mags, most come with the plastic/steel combo.

Sorry I now I am a little late with the picks but here ya ho.

Here is the bottom of the mag

The plastic on the bottom of the mag would not bother me if it was closed on the bottom but I can live with it.

Other that that I love the gun its definitely money well spent.

The mag base release is in the tiny hole in the open bottom.
My only worry has been breaking them while dropping them in IPSC indoor matches. Hasn't happened yet though.
