Browning BLR 358 win barrel

I have a steel receiver flush fit 81 in 308 just sitting in the safe. I've been really thinking about swapping the barrel to a 358 win. Where would a fella be best to look for a pre-fit 358 win barrel for a Browning blr?

I'd check numrich and such down south first. WGP maybe. I'd also look into getting RKS to rebore it, if the barrel is thick enough. I had a 358 BLR, but sold it off a few years back, and don't recall the barrel diameter, sorry. - dan

About $500 maybe less to get Gerard smith to rebore it. Will be easiest. I went to gain twist .358 from .308 on n my savage 99

There's a member on here who knows how to work with BLRs from what I've seen.

He changed barrel and calibre.

He made a thread about this on CGN. Posted very nice end results on his customisation, too.

It might be worth to hear his opinion.

I'll send it to you. RKS Enterprises is his business. He turned a 223 CZ527 into a 6.5 Grendel for me. It turned out great. He opened the bolt face for me too.

Gerald or his dad has seen 4 of my rifles through their shop. No complaints to be made. 2 rebore’s and a new barrel with gain twist, and thread/chamber/install a carbon six.

$450 for the rebore/clambering plus an additional $50 for return shipping.

$500 to turn a .308 to a .358 is a steal.

And put a “5” stamp where the “0” is on the barrel chambering marking.

I didn’t want to post the price earlier in case it had gone up. I think the cost for a new barrel and work was closer to $1300 (fyi for the new stainless .458, bottom plate flatten, front site install etc)
