rem 1100 trap

Have 1100 12 ga and had issue with cartridge release becoming unstaked. This has happened previously as well. Gun shop advised that action is worn Out!
Anyway they restaked part, now it wont stay open after a single shot. When I do put a shell in chamber and one in mag tube, it will catch the first empty halfway out of the chamber.. I am getting annoyed at paying each time only to experience another issue...certainly open to other suggestions pls.

Gun shop advised that action is worn Out! That sort of implies you are spending money to fix continuous problems.
 
Shotguns wear out. I wore out at least two model 1100 Trap Specials.

Both of those fine shotguns had well over 200K shots through them, albeit with many replacement parts along the way. Eventually, the receiver just wouldn't allow things to funtion the way they should.

My third 1100 is still shooting in the hands of my grandson. It's had a few things replaced, such as the furniture, extractor/spring/plunger, but it's still going strong.
 
Just 2 suggestions from an old guy with grey hair who has a dozen Rem1100’s and gets to diagnose other people’s Rem1100 at the gun club on a bi-monthly bases.

Most ‘staking’ jobs done with a hammer and punch don’t work/hold up. Spend the money on a heavy duty staking tool from Brownells and do a proper job. You have to move some metal over. Order a new stainless steel magazine shell follower and install it. The plastic and aluminum ones will wear out and give you grief such as you described. We’ve salvaged quite a few high milage Rems with such a simple swap out.

When one of my Rem1100 went back to the gun-store for hundredth time the owner/gunsmith pulled a Benelli SBE from the rack and told me to buy it. He took it apart (7 pieces)) and reassembled it. Told me that in the last 10 years he never had a return to fix a broken one. The old man was right. I still think the Rem1100 is the ultimate shotgun for aerial targets but my Benelli shotguns have never let me down. Knock on wood !! Cheers.
