BAR won't extract

I have a 68 BAR in 30-06. Bought it off a guy that said it wouldn't cycle. Bolt would stick back when you pulled it back. Was horribly dirty.
Got it cycling and now it won't extract the spent case when fired. Took the bolt apart and cleaned everything up, tried a spent case and the extractor holds on tight, tried again and still no change. fires, locks back and then need to drop the bolt and cycle it and it ejects the spent case just fine. Seller made no mention of this.
Is it likely the extractor is the issue here, worn out? It's pretty loose in there, haven't ever used a bar before so I don't know what it should be like.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If the chamber is really dirty and rough it can grip the expanded case. The neck and shoulder area should be smooth. It sounds like the gun is really dirty. Is there rust in the chamber? Cheers
 
Had a Remington Auto Loader 742 in :06 (yes, I know it is not a BAR) but my experience was that it fired bnib just fine and when it came to Imperial from the late 70's/early 80's it would tear the rim right off the base .
Pharking thing was dirtier than a girl from Surrey on Saturday Night and not in a good way.
Anyways, spent lots and lots of time scrubbing the chamber (I was a newbie to Auto Loaders) and I mean 2 hours or more running a brush in and out and flushing with G-96, Sweets 7.62 and any other aerosol cleaner I had at the time.
Eventually it stopped spewing dirty material out and extracted shells with mucho gusto.
Long winded I know, but if any of this sound familiar , maybe it will help.

I have a bar same era in 30-06 and never had a problem with it but I keep it clean and dry( really lightly oil). IMO they are the best for the era semi-auto hunting rifle made!
Mine as been super reliable even with some pretty hot hand loads, not the most accurate rifle in my safe but plenty accurate for hunting out to 300m.
 
Clean the chamber, scrubbing will likely be needed and not just a patch pushed thru.

The fired case just show problems of fouling or pitting, upload some pics if you are unfamiliar with diagnosis.
 
I've cleaned the chamber, bore, bolt didn't change anything. The cases come out fine no pitting or anything like that.
Can see on the rim of the case markings from the extractor and it's not grabbing square. the extractor itself is pretty loose in the bolt face, it rocks around freely. The extractor should be under spring tension. If it is pretty loose and rocks around freely, I'd remove it, and find out what is going on with its spring.

I think my brass look like that too. It’s been a while since I fired mine.
