Ok time for the annual 2026 waterfowl thread. You know what to do!
I'll kick it off. Twelve days into the season before we finally were able to get at them due to work committments but we're up and running now. First up is the wife and I. Geese were not co-operating but couldn't ask for the ducks to work any better! They were like Kamikazes targeting a carrier! Had a ton of footage of ducks working the spread but narrowed it down to a few with less than stellar shooting on our parts! đź«Ł

Day 2, again the geese were not co-operating mostly due to a very few fields having been harvested and getting shot at day in/day out wherever they could feed. Thankfully once again the ducks saved the day bombing the spread like they were intent on stealing every bit of barley they could from the fake flock eating their dinner!

Our first 4 shoots of the season, and there should be another this evening, if this dang blasted fog ever lifts so a guy can spot some fields…….

That’ll be my Northern Ab. foray, then I’ll start looking for shoots in central Alberta.

I love life as a retired guy with Fowl Intentions!

Bloody awesome, Mr. & Mrs. Spank! I haven't been out yet, crops are 90% standing.

I wasn’t looking for an exact count. I’ve just noticed over the years you seem to do a lot of waterfowl hunting and was curious how many you actually take.

50-100? 2-300? 500+?

No idea to be honest. As I said I don't keep track. Enough to make some good treats with, jerky, sausage etc.

Kicked off the weekend with Cowtown Bill(right first photo) and a couple friends with our 4 man limit of ducks and a few bonus geese using our SxS's. Double guns = Double Fun!
We had a varied lineup of SxS's with two 12 gauges, a Winchester Model 21,a very early and handsome AH Fox Sterlingworth "pin gun", an NID4E 16ga and a beautifully engraved and gold inlaid FAIR 20 ga.
This was the inaugural hunt for CB's 1939 Winchester Model 21 with WS1 choked barrels. Not a bad way to put an 87 year old SXS back into the game. The ages spread from 1912 to 2024. The guns that is!! :ROFLMAO:
