Can someone tell me if these bullets are .312 diameter? My dad's SVT40 has a worn out bore and shoots these better than some .308 dia. we have used from some old Normas.

Why would you be shooting .308 bullets in an SVT?

I could certainly be wrong but I seem to remember someone saying that all North American and western European manufacturers 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R uses bullets with a diameter of .308 because 7.62x51 is .308 diameter. Combloc stuff on the other hand (ie corrosive Czech 7.62x39) is .311 diameter.

7.62x54R isn't .308. Some Finned MN's will shoot .308 bullets well, but for most SVTs/MNs .308 will be too small.

"...all North American and western European..." American, but not neccesarily European. In any case, the 7.62 x 51/.308 bullet diameter has nothing to do with the bullet diameter of either the 7.62 x 39 or 7.62 x 54.
"...dad's SVT40 has a worn out bore..." It should be .311", but slug the bore to find out exactly what it is.

Just mic'ed a S&B soft point 150 grain 7.62X54r and got 0.311".

My Norma 180 grain soft point semi-pointed boat tail stuff on the other hand came to 0.308".

Igman 150 grain soft point is 0.310"

1968 marked bxn Czech 180 grain FMJ light ball measured at 0.311"

1989 Hungarian 180 grain soft point steel case is 0.310"

Wolf gold 150 grain soft point is 0.311" (this stuff is by far the most accurate in my SVT, about 2" at 100 yards with no wind)

Very usefull info! Thank you very much Holleyman! Sellier & Bellot should be fine!:) ( my local fella has Sellier Bellot at $22.95 for 20.)

yup, s&b is .311 and my czech light ball is .310 too.
however, i reload for both my mosins and i use hornady's 150gr SP's that measure at .312 with excellent results. i think a .312 is perfect for worn bores. just my 2 cents.
