Brand New to Canada: SG-12 "SPAS"

T.I. stated they "would not let this thing out until it was right" and they willingly shipped out these firearms in the absolute garbage tier condition that has been documented across many examples.

This shipment should have been rejected upon inspection but profits over principles has been made very clear by the actions already taken.

T.I. has some serious explaining to do....
We back everything with a full lifetime warranty. If a unit is not functioning correctly then we'll get it replaced with one that is.

We have done our best to convey the importance of QC to the manufacturer, but it is not standard practice for distributors to unpackage and re-check each unit prior to shipping. If there are any units that aren't functioning correctly the manufacturer has to replace, so it is really in their best interest to ensure everything is correct. That being said we haven't had many claims thus far, these appear to be within normal standards.

When the new batch is coming?

TI,

Do you guys plan on bringing in the 18.5" versions?

I'm a TNW suomi survivor. Dealing with semi autos even the Benelli's and bushmaster i had to work on em to get them running smoothly and reliably. This seems on par with all brands i've dealt with to be honest. Some less some more but all require some work in my experience. Maybe one or 2 SKS's of the bunch where flawless.
The TNW Suomi was the biggest disappointing gun ever…. Im so glad I sold mine a year before the ban because that would be the only gun I would ever consider handing into the government to be melted down for cash 🤣 it’s all that piece of trash deserves

Good luck to all you SG 12 owners.
This is not exactly a glowing way to end a post.

I opened the box, couldn't unfold the stock at all. Immediately sold. As I suspected a giant pile of Turkish crap. Oh well
Bought a car, couldn't figure out the cigarette lighter ... sold the car immediately.

Could you have given up any quicker?

Man,
I want one so bad! But I certainly won’t pay the scalper prices for it….. This has me checking their website daily again…just like the Type 81 days! Let’s go TI!!! You guys rock!

Adding a issue I just had with my Spas over the weekend. The magazine spring retaining cup had somehow gotten loose and popped off allowing me to load an extra round into the tube. This also resulted in double feeding when fully loaded. Putting that magazine spring retaining cup back in seems to have solved the issue. (I'm at roughly 500 rounds shot) No other issues as of yet, knock on wood.

The Sulun SPASS-12 is a Turkish clone of the Franchi SPAS-12, imported by Blitz Creek LLC out of Clay Township, Michigan. THE classic gun from Jurassic Park and Modern Warfare 2. (It does not run like one.)

I paid about $1,100 to $1,200 for this Gen 2, expecting something in the better tier of Turkish shotguns.

A real Franchi SPAS-12 is pushing $6,000 if you can find one. This was supposed to be the shortcut. It was not. We had roughly 750 rounds and did not get through a quarter of a box. I do not think we cleared more than three full magazine tubes without a stoppage.

Failures included rounds double feeding out of the tube, the lifter not presenting a shell into the chamber, failure to extract, and a case head left in the chamber with the rim gone.

The extraction cut looks too wide for the extractor to actually grab the rim. Target loads, Fiocchi Dynamic Defense buckshot, Hornady Critical Defense, and slugs all failed.

Switching to pump did not save it.

Other notes from the video: the tube ships with a limiter, so it is 5+1 instead of 8+1, and the spring already feels weak with the limiter in.

The magazine tube loosens under fire, which walks the gas setting off. The folding stock needs a tool to actuate and shifts on the shoulder.

The safety is a crossbolt, not the lever on the original. The pump and semi selector is a button, and the manual of arms is not the same as a Franchi. The trigger is fine. That is about the only mechanical win.
Scored out of 100, it finished at 1, and only because it looks enough like a SPAS-12 to hang on a wall.

Ethan’s Gen 1 was also bad. If you have heard some of these run, this one did not. A thousand dollars in Vegas is a better bet.

Ouch, Micah managed to have the entire crew that made his particular gun high on whatever the preferred locks intoxicant in Turkey is when they made his copy.

We took a buddies Sulun SPAS 12 to range Sunday. It ran exceptionally well as we adhered to manufacturer recommendations to run high brass full power rounds at least 1350fps. Ran exceptionally well with 2 3/4” and 3” Federal, Winchester and Remington 00buck and slugs. No issues except one double feed. Did not run so well with cheap ammo (Challenger ,Clever and some no name junk) in semi auto ..and we didn’t expect it to. Did cycle the junk rounds well in pump , as it should. We didn’t lubricate this gun outta the box and no mods done to it. I was skeptical of the Turkish clone SPAS but was pleasantly surprised. The build quality ,fit and finish is good. Obviously this was a GEN 2 version of some of the reported bugs appear to have been resolved …
