Offer a heavy barreled varmint version of the BAR. I think it would be an awesomely accurate semi that would scratch the hunting itch for those that woukld like to own an AR for hunting. What do you all think?

Because the marketing people believe the extra weight would deter more buyers than the extra accuracy would attract. I think they are probably right.

but you need the one with the sights so than when your long wooleys cause the itch you can slide it down your back to scratch. The ones without sights do not work as well. Remember to at least put your safety on when you're scratching.

It would be nice, particularly in 300WM. Kind of an Eclipse meets a BAR. And it has been done by folks in the past, including modding a McMillian stock to one.

Why doesn't Browning do it? Simple, because like the grumpy old men here they lack vision, passion and the independant thought to do it. On top of which, they are just plain contrary and slow.:runaway:

any mathematicians on this board? What moa do you need for a jumper at 400 yards, now how about a moose at that same distance.

Bars kill deer and other big game like gang busters! You need precision shooters for gophers and ground hogs at those same distances.

As long as you can shoot and your nerves don't take over they kill just fine the way they are.:sniper:

Timberwolfe, you are 100%. Those who think that the BAR is not accurate enough for game probably have not tried one. Accuracy gurus:rolleyes:

Donny Fenn1, thanks for the link.

Triton, Glad you love the bars. I am also not so much on a heavy barrel for hunting, just because it is heavy. I do not think gitrdun's original statement was well put. A heavy barrel does not always define accuracy. A barrel is accurate because of many other things and weight is only a small part. Some automatic rifles are not accurate. So what? So are some bolts and certainly the levers, but how or what purpose does the automatic defeat?

if you cant take good shots, take lots

Deer tend to run in herds at times. Some people party hunt with second or even third deer tags. When you just want to get your hands dirty once and clean up 3 or 4 animals at once that is where a Bar is at its best. Putting meat in the deep freeze.

If looking at pretty little groups blows your hair back buy a 12 lb bolt gun with a 6x24 scope on top of it.
