IWI CSR18 Carmel non restricted rifle with 18.6” Barrel

Now that everyone’s seen the Makasi review, is anyone thinking of switching their order to the IWI Carmel? Bullseye has the restricted version available, and I’m tempted to grab one… just not sure I want another restricted. 🤔
 
I've had my Carmel since july and it's been awesome! Had zero issues so far. I have been thinking about canceling my preorder and buying more bulk ammo for the carmel

I switched a long time ago. I wouldn't be scared to own a Makasi, especially if I was looking for a rifle to tinker with but all the tinkering I want to do with rifles like these is to attach an optic and a forward grip.

For my purposes the absolute solid reputation of IWI wins out. I have thousands of rounds experience with IWI products and zero with Makasi so that's a contributing factor too.

Yeah, I’ve really enjoyed mine, too. I was out shooting with my Dad last week—he’ll be 86 in a couple of months—and he really enjoyed the chance to shoot a modern semi-auto rifle again.

If one doesn't have a register restricted, it "could" get the foot in the door, should they go the grandfathered route.


Grandfathering really is the only half ethical way they can weasel out of this.

They aren't looking for a way to weasel out of anything. Grandfathering would mean another gun registry...

I don't like grandfathering either.

How do you suppose they aren't going to lose face?

They said no to grandfathering but in the past it has been the only solution

I was one of the early customers to pre-order the Makasi, but honestly, I’m starting to lose confidence in it. The ETA keeps getting pushed back, and there’s still no clear arrival date. On top of that, RDSC has only released a small patch, and quite a few owners are already reporting issues with the gun. At this point, I’m not sure it’s worth the wait anymore. I’ve also bought quite a few accessories for this gun, including the stock, so it’s frustrating not knowing when it will arrive. Bulleye is getting the 16” Carmel next week 🤤


I still haven’t cancelled
