What type of bullet is best for large game?

This seems to be trolling and a statement I'd love to see you disprove, but you do you, boo lol
Disprove? It’s easy. Shoot lots of game with lots of bullets at lots of angles and you will start to see a pattern emerge.

When your experience is limited to print and someone else’s pictures it’s going to be tough.

Is there anything you aren’t an expert on?

So I see an unsubstantiated claim and I see complaining about me lol.

Not seeing any evidence that most bullets won't work just fine ;)

Sorry I rustle your jimmies. Let's just pretend you proved it and help you out k? You're right. No one who hunts thinks lots of bullets work just fine, Bwana. No need for any of that pesky proof.

Iv always had good luck with accubonds, slow or fast. 2 from this years moose worked well. Iv found a lot less meat loss with bigger and slower.

I want proof that you actually have shot more than five deer.

I want proof that you are qualified to comment on anything gun or ballistic related when it comes to killing big game.

Pictures of your lunch doesn’t cut it.

No, you're right. I've never seen a deer outside of a petting zoo or the reindeer in the mall. The "meat" in my cooking pics is tofu.

So how am I wrong about bullets? Can you demonstrate it and not just make claims?

The resident troll is at it again I see.

Yep, I said that theres lots of great bullets suitable for big game and its hard to find one that won't work.

What a troll I. Such awful trolling. How dare he.

Pearls? Clutched.

Couch? Fainted upon.
Your condescending, childish mode of communication is what makes you, you. It has nothing to do with your suggestions about bullets.

You are deflecting Joel. What is your actual experience?

I shot a few deer in a video game once. Remember? We agreed you're right about everything. Don't let me in any way threaten your ego. You have many pics and did all the things and everyone takes you super seriously. Relax :)

BTW, you're deflecting. How am I wrong about bullets?

So I make a statement about bullets, and rather than prove it wrong, someone spazzes out and asks me to prove I've shot 5 deer, and I'm the childish bad communicator?

The cognitive dissonance at work here is hilarious.

And you're not in any way being condescending, childish, or trolling right now in your conduct, right? ;)

Shifted to monos (Barnes LRX) a few years back for big game and never looked back. Retaining 95%+ weight through heavy hide and bone is well worth it. Bonded is a close second, but I'd pass on basic cup & core for a hunt like that.

Because I’ve seen it firsthand Joel. I’ve seen cup and core bullets come unglued and fail to penetrate to the vitals. I’ve seen bonded bullets stop between shoulder and rib cage.

To date I have shot game with Nosler Ballistic Tips (I’ve seen them fail to penetrate), Partitions, Accubonds, Partition Gold, Fail Safes, Speer Hot Cores, Speer boat tails (I’ve seen them fail to penetrate), Grand Slams, Hornady Interlocks (I’ve seen them come apart and fail to penetrate, Interbonds, SST’s, ELDM’s, A-Max, North Forks, A-Frames, Scirroco’s, Hammers, X, TSX, XLC, TTSX, LRX, Scenars, Bergers, and some I’m likely forgetting.

I’ve earned the right to have an opinion on the subject.

Yes they all can work. But there is a big difference between hunting to prove some bullet and proving a bullet by hunting. Unfortunately we see far too much of the former.

Holy cow, an actual answer!

Yup, I agree bullets fail and thats a thing. Some more than others. On the Ballistic Tips specifically, has it been since Nosler beefed up the jacket thickness like on the 30 cal 180 grains? Although I admit they tend to suffer core/jacket separation.

While a cup and core bullet (well, any bullet really) can fail (see above re: pictures of Barnes bullets that didn't expand) its a pretty rare proposition.

Its possible, and perhaps even likely, that people with as much or more experience as/than you would say cup and core bullets at pertinent velocity are fine, and they feel just fine using them on big game. Are the odds of say a Power Point or Core Lokt or any other popular cup and core falling apart before reaching vitals just too high to be considered a good choice?

You be the judge, as Paul Harrell used to say. But the statistics would seem to bear out that failures are rare. Plenty of moose getting knocked down here with all of them. Although I found the SST in particular a bit too splashy for me, we haven't ever seen one fail, or the other various cup and cores. But I've no doubt it happens.

What is YOUR actual experience using bullets on big game? You want me to answer you. How about you return the favour.

I decided to walk out into the cold this morning just for you Joel. This is SOME of the game I’ve seen hit the dirt. Bullets are not created equal. Nor are the vast array of opinions on the subject.

I wanted you to answer me because you took it upon yourself to challenge my statement. But since we're being cool, I'll tell ya. Going on good faith that it doesn't end up some kind of "I have more experience" thing while not actually disproving what I said lol.

I haven't really kept track or score and hardly ever take pictures but I'd say at least 30 deer, 6 moose, and being on hand/participating in minimum double that number as not being the shooter, but present and helping with gutting/the carry out etc. We're a pretty active group of hunters.

Bullets has been a very wide spectrum. From whatever suitable soft point was cheapest at the store, to TTSX, Partitions (well, Partition gold, same thing), Accubonds in various forms, 180gr 30 cal Nosler Ballistic tips, the 165 and 180gr SSTs,

I can try to give you an exhaustive list if you like. But I've yet to see one of any kind actually fail except one accubond on a deer from a 300 WM believe it or not.

Thats great, I appreciate it. And I'm happy for you.

Please note my argument wasn't "all bullets are equal" or "none of them ever fail"

Depends on the cartridge/rifle/game/hunt. I have no problem using SSTs or Hot-Cors on a whitetail deer at ~2800fps and below. Moose I prefer something premium ish, or at least heavy for caliber - whatever the particular rifle likes, be it accubond, oryx, GMX, etc.

Fast cartridges tend to get better bullets, just because the likelihood of things blowing up increases.

I think my favorite all-around bullet would be the accubond, not too soft, not too tough, good BC, and easy to get shooting well.

I only like monos in fast cartridges, and on the lighter side for the caliber.
