Trying to swage out those stupid dimples in an express. Realized that a target barrel off a 10/22 would be perfect size. Anyone wanna lend me your barrel? I'll only need it for a night and it'll receive some fancy new designs on the end? Anyone? :runaway:

Your 870 isn't cute?
I figured I'd try and raise the dimples instead of drilling, don't really want holes in the tube (I know they'll be covered but It'll still bug me). I drove a socket in it last night and it raised them somewhat now I just need something matching the ID of the tube. I'll just turn something down to fit this weekend.
Holes are my last resort!:)

Mine is downright gorgeous, no dimples.

I built this 27 years ago.

It will be too late to drill with the mess that you could make trying to hammer it out.

I would take the advice and drill them, that stretched material has to go somewhere, unless you want to make a form for the od as well:rolleyes:

Hmmm, I'll look into the dremel idea. I should probably just drill them, my luck I'll be making a thread asking how to change an 870 mag tube.
RePete that is a gorgeous gun.

The dimples in the Express is your excuse to buy an 870P.

^ yep... one of the main differences.

I'd probably just drill them out though... Mind you, I'll never face that problem because with a 14" barrel on my 870, I can't add a mag extension :p

A Socket is the perfect tool to press them out I used a mastercraft, not sure what size, but its hardened steel, and pushed them right out, no marks that I can see. Plus you can put an extension in the socket for some hammering leverage if needed.

Dimples are out. Went to CT with my caliper and grabbed a couple of sockets to do the job. Just need to finish up with a file to smooth things out and its done. thanks for all the suggestions.
*Edit* for people searching this topic in the future. Sockets used were 3/8" drive mastercraft 18mm spark plug socket, and 3/8" drive mastercraft maximum 17mm deep socket. Used the spark plug socket first then the deep socket, worked great.
