Brake vs No Brake

You provide facts. Go shoot with 100 shots a tuner, then make an adjustment and see what happens to the group size.

But would it shoot any better with the tuner off or on at all? Especially with a lighter barrel?

Perhaps making the adjustments doesn't change things but that doesn't describe the behavior with the tuner off the muzzle vs on the muzzle at all

Seem to be cases of tuners working. They lying?

Except I'm not the one making the claims? You have gone from brakes, to chronographs, and now to tuners...with incorrect information and zero facts. You have the chronograph correct, but not for the original reason you claimed.

If a tuner was hung on a barrel, particularly a thinner one, the POI would almost certainly change. Would the group size change significantly? That would have more to do with the weight and adjustability of the tuner itself in relation to the barrel profile. To say broadly that they "don't work" isn't correct.

Tuners don't work the way they're advertised to work. If all they were meant to do was be a weight on the end of a barrel, they wouldn't be adjustable in length. Nothing I've said was incorrect, I've cited my sources, and even linked a published paper.

Not so much that they are lying, as much as they are trying to sell tuners?
Not a tuner fan, at all, and believe that there are better ways to gain accuracy based on experience.
The point is, it would be extremely difficult, as Litz found out, to either prove it, or disprove it for every possible scenario in existence.
The weight and the mechanics behind the POI shift most likely has more to do with any accuracy "improvement" than turning the adjustment in and out. Again, this would really depend on the barrel profile and all of the rest of the variables.

Yep! Pretty much exactly what the quote from BL said too.

That they are lol

And yet, in some cases they do? You'd be a lot better off to stop speaking in absolutes.

Two out three things you have said are incorrect, and the one that you got right isn't because of what you initially said.
Your "cited sources" disagree with your claims, as you interpreted them incorrectly.

My understanding of the above is that the weight itself matters a lot more than the adjustments/moving its position.

In other words...yeah a tuner can work lol
Myself and many other people used the Browning BOSS tuning system, and it most definitely does work. As well many high level competitors have proven that tuners do work. Watch the video below, those shooters include world champions and national team members.

Eric will say or do almost anything to sell his recycled ideas and junk... so be wary of the info.

Again, all that has really been proven is what may or may not have worked on those particular rifles. It doesn't mean that as a rule, tuners will work on every rifle, all the time. It also makes sense given the sample group provided, as most of those rifles will be very very similar in their construction.

The change in POI is a little closer to an absolute but still isn't a 100%.

I bought a fresh A-Bolt Stainless Stalker in 375 H&H w/BOSS yrs back and loved the easy tunability of the system. After initial teardown and
cleaning of the barrel and action, I set the tuner to Browning's recommended specs then put a box of Federal 270 gr SP through it with the
brake on. 10 rnds at 75 yds and 10 at 100. Accuracy and recoil reduction was fine, but the brake was far too loud fer me and a couple of others at the range that day. (Covered firing lines & brakes ain't a good combo fer many.) ;)
I swapped out the brake with the non-vented muzzle weight that came with the rifle which served me well until an amigo bought 'er off me a few yrs later.
No brakes on any of my rifles thanks.

Back in the day when browning brought out the Boss system a good buddy and I borrowed one from Hubs and took it out Mission for a try. It was very easy to tune it to small groups with factory ammo. Have had a few braked rifles over the years. Brakes are for load development, off and capped in hunting season.
