yup thats right i was reloading away .30 carbine had done approx 350 this morning when as i pulled the handle down it snapped right off......

I broke the crank

ive reloaded approx 10-15K on this press and this is the 1st failure

I called williams arms they were VERY helpfull telling me this happens sometimes and how to change it but they did not have the part they could order it but it "might" cost me $$ so he suggested i order from dillion directly

I called dillion and in 2 mins I had the part on order for FREE only drawback is it will take 2 weeks depending on customs the guy said........

Ill post a pic later my wife put the cam "away" so of course i cant find it....

They are good guys. Did they even ask how it happened or for proof? Or just "Sorry to hear that... what is your address... it will be in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for using Dillon."? I don't know I haven't had anything break on my Dillon but I do have a parts kit just in case. Although the parts kit wouldn't include anything that big.

I live close to the border and when I order stuff from the states I get them to ship it to a drop box in the states close to the border. Takes a little time and gas but much faster than getting it sent right to my home. Besides with my Nexus card there are no lineups anymore! :D

Oh, and I can fill up with gas for $0.90/L!

Can you imagine being happy about paying $0.90/L?

this is a very common failure on HEAVILY used 550's, it has to be expected on an aluminum press. Usually it takes 50,000 + on a 550 for this to happen. When I ran a 550 I had a spare crank set up and alignment tool, so of course it never broke!

I have done that with dillion, offered to send the part back, but they said "No!"

I would deal with them any time!

RCBS as well came through for me on a broken part!

I thought reloading equipment was legal to export from US and duty/tax-free to import into Canada...
It is legal to import. If it is made in the USA it will be duty free. It won't be tax free however unless it is clearly stated as being a free replacement part or something to that nature. He's replacement part should have no cost.
