Beretta CX4 Storm

does anyone have a pic of the wrench with some dimensions?
If it is something that just needs to be waterjet cut maybe I will have a few made up.
Something like the lend-lease program. Free to use ,just shipping.

Looked at a CX4 but had a problem reaching the mag release with my thumb
Wondering if others are using their week hand to drop the mag
Have not bought one yet still thinking about it

its ambideztrous - you can always switch mag release to index finger side. Some people like it better. To me controls are fine as is.

thats correct nut isn't very tight.

Actually mine was on extremely tight. I would estimate about 80 to 100 ft/lbs. I snapped the teeth off of two barrel nut tools until I finally heat treated and hardened my final tool. I had to clamp the factory barrel in a vise and had someone hold the stock while I used a long screwdriver through a hole in the handle of the barrel nut tool. It required considerable force to break the nut loose. I was expecting the nut to be only around 20 ft/lbs.

My guess is - nut was threadlocked or something like that. 100ft/lbs is a lot of torque that will likely bust the nut or strip threads.

Anyways, I got my "heavy" barrelled Storm from Bits of Pieces couple days ago. It sure feels totally different with som much weight up front. I only had a few boxes of ammo and none in 124 grain weight, so testing isn't by any means done yet. Results are encouraging, heavy barrel didn't make polymer frame any stiffer but bulets sure fly where I put crosshair on my scope. I am very pleased with Barry's work by the way, highly recommend.

could probably do better but for now it is great improvement anyway.

Yes I was getting worried that I was about to break something when the nut finally broke loose and started to turn.

That heavy barrel looks great. What did Bit's of Pieces end up charging you for it? I may have to look into one myself.

I am not sure what exactly the barrel portion for the whole job was. He had to verify two firearms and do paperwork for both- that may have costed me something. I paid about 550$ taxes in.

i had a spring buffer? fail on my 40 after 300 rounds and have been waiting months for stoeger to ship a replacement. I have to say i dont know about a bipod on a carbine... do you have sandbags for it too? I would think twice about buying this gun in 40 cal.

I just bought a CX4 9mm on Friday from Lock and Load and I am going to pick it up on Tuesday. :) Then I will send it to Bits and Pieces to get it rebarreled. I am totally excited about this. I am just bit unsure about putting a heavy barrel on it. Hopefully 22lr will have some more insight on this.

:D

Good:

Absolute blast to shoot.

Bad:

Way too heavy.
The stock sling is too short, virtually useless.
If one has to use sling, it has to be attached to a weaver based stud on the side or top rail.
The sight posts are too high for Leupold CQT to mount close enough for proper eye relief.
Ghost ring sight is impossible to use with both eyes open.
Location of the front sling stud does not allow for mounting of a bipod.

Pictured above is CX4 with two LED lights and Kobra sight in a left handed configuration. I wish the stock sights were removable! Beretta should have thought better and sold CX4 with top rail extending all the way and front and rear sights attaching to the rail.

I don't find the Storm heavy at all and mine has a longer heavier barrel, mine does have a sling so I can't comment on that. I do agree it is a great gun to shoot and fairly quiet also.

No issues with ejection. Actually one can set up to eject from either left or right side. I set mine to eject from the right and instlled the charging handle on the left for ease of use. Seems to be ok.

How easy is it to do this? I want to switch my charging handle and mag release to the right, should I take it to a smith or is it user-friendly? I do my own work on a lot of stuff (Glocks, AR's), but mostly just swapping out parts and upgrading. I haven't looked into yet, just looking for some info on what's involved. Special tools needed?

At 15 yards 147 grain Remington Golden Sabres (hollow points) were printing one ragged hole with Line of Sights heavy barreled 9mm CX4 Storm. It was benched and he was using the stock sights. Also the action seemed to be pretty weak with the cycling until we went to the 147 grain stuff.

I've never had good luck with Winchester ammo and accuracy. The Golden sabres however showed some potential. I'll be giving them a try in mine when I get the optics on it.
