last year some hunt sabs ruined my bear hunt. when they saw the bear corpse one of our party was prepping they went into our camp and let off stink bombs so there was no way we could sneak up on a bear they also threw my tent in the lake! our party member was oblivious because we were prepping the bear further down the road where a pre existing game pole was erected.
the rest of us where out hunting.

a threatening letter was left on the picnic table, you murdering... scum... what if we hunted you? and so on.

how do we deal with these people?:(

ambush them and put them under citizens arrest.
What they did is illegal.

You have to notify the natural resources officers. This is akin to reporting poachers. What they did is absolutely illegal and its your job to report it so they can be charged. You have a right to hunt.

Personally, I would refrain from arresting them since I'd likely do something I'd regret, but leading the fish cops to them would do.

By the way, sorry to hear about your hunt, that outrages me.

... Property damage, depending on the "Value" is either Mischief or Willful Damage, Criminal Code Offense. "Uttering threats" dependent on the actual wording and ability to carry out the threat may also be chargeable ( Possibly constituting a Charge of Assault ) ... interfering/impeding etc. a Lawful Hunt is obviously the root offense, should be reported and if practical, a Court Order sought to allow the continuation of the Lawful Hunt, and the order for cease and desist, against those (Identifiable ) interfering. Whatever happens, and this year maybe nothing, remain calm, video and make good notes. Do NOT respond with threats or physical violence, beyond what may be necessary for self preservation. ... Good Luck ! ..... David K. ....

Your only lawful means is to report the activity to your DNR. Hindsight always being 20/20, a strategically placed trailcam would be helpful in identifying the culprits in future event.

Sorry about your hunt. :(

The whole citizens arrest thing.....use your best judgement. You are well within your rights, but that can turn ugly on you (in many respects Civil, legal, & physical) in a real hurry:eek:. Let the law deal with'em. That's what they are there for.

Cheers, Hakx:wave:

I'd be right back in the same spot this year, HUNTING!!! I'd also have a couple hidden game cameras recording the "traffic" in the camp area... Cheap insurance...

Other than that, Ronin has it right, we can't post "How we really feel..."

Cheers & GOOD LUCK
Jay

even if you where to try and stop them, they can claim that you just assaulted them by stopping them when you had a weapon (Assault - A person commits an assault when (c) while openly wearing or carrying a weapon or an imitation thereof, he accosts or impedes another person or begs.).

As someone had mentioned, get the tail cam and do it legally.. you don't need legal hassles.

I'd get some camo netting and a pair of binos, and wait until they showed up to do it again, and then I'd confront them about it.

As told to me by a cop, when I should have put a car thief under citizens arrest you simply declare you are placing the person under citizens arrest, and if they resist they will also be charged with resisting arrest. You have the RIGHT to arrest them, they must comply.

So let me see if I have this correct, the people that have broken your gear, left nasty hate rants, hate you with a passion and are already breaking most strictures both moral and social, will meekly stand there as you declare that you are arresting them.....good luck with that !

Ps, I would not care to try that on any of the greenie turds over here.

Thats great, but not applicable to the situation.. to make a citizens arrest you have to actually see the crime in progress. that is NOT the situation in this case.

AS for not resisting.. that only applies to peace officer, which you are not.

LOL!! :D That's the "ugly" part that I referred to earlier. Legal advice from anonymous contributors on an internet forum is always amusing.

I often make life altering decisions under advisement of "A guy who knew a guy, who's friends cousin's boss talked to a (insert profession here) one night in a bar... ":bsFlag:

i never suggested jumping random people and tying them up.
You are well within your rights if you catch them in the act of destroying your property, to put them under citizens arrest and call the authorities.

Citizen's arrest only applies to indictable offense. So be careful with that term. But those fackers don't understand that people respect others in the bush for a reason.

And in case the main media has an account on here we are going to now mention that sss alludes to the opening of a cold can of drink, because we are all such righteous, upright citizens who would not under any circumstance think nasty thoughts at any individual regardless of how annoying they are.........now, that should cover it.

.... Before anyone gets into the "Citizens Arrest", the key phrases are: Found Committing, Indictable Offense ( Dual Procedure Offenses and it becomes a little "fuzzy " ) and Special Interest. .... And then there comes the use of Force, turn over to Police as soon as possible and so on ! Its an area that has the potential to cause all sorts of grief so, be very careful with it. Bear in mind that a fair number of the "Protesters" have either a Lawyer on Retainer for their group, or Law Students, on a Crusade to Save the World, amongst their active participants .The Courts are often viewed by Protest Groups as an ideal forum to air their grievances, and "free"publicity, to put their agenda before the Public....David K.
