Would a Bushnell Banner Dusk and Dawn 1.5-4.5 x 32 stand recoil of handloaded ammo.

I want to start load developpement for my 1895 GS and I wonder if that 135$ scope would fit the bill.

What type of ring and base is the best with that gun.

any inputs appreciated. Thanks

Save your money and buy something better. In the long run your pocket book will thank you.

The scope is already bought. I got it last year for a 10/22 but was not satisfied with the parallax for 25 yard shots.

I just need the rings and base. My question was more like= will I destroy it within 50 rounds of hot reloaded ammo.

Ho ! 1 more thing. I will probably just use the scope for the load developement and then take all that ss.h..t away.

Remember that hot handloads in your guide gun kick like hell. So be careful about getting scope eye. I put a red dot scope on mine, and like it alot. Works great against the black coat of a bear, especially just as the sun is going down.. Good luck, Eric

The Cabeleas scope is designed for the Hornady Levervolution ammo. Leupold VX II in 2-7 X33mm has almost 4 inches in eye relief. I have Leupolds on my two 45-70's, one blue one stainless. The VX-III in 1.5 to 5 's are most excellent.

Lots of guys run that bushnell on their guide guns with zero problems. I use one on my 444P (guide gun in 444Marlin) and it works great. The red dot is more fun and faster, but for load development I'd go with the scope.

Be very aware of that scope jumping back at your face though!

I had a banner break on a 270. Those scopes are luck of the draw.

FWIW I have a GG 45-70 and shoot full house loads out of it. Recoil is substantial as is muzzle rise. This gun is an example were a lighter scope will probably stand up much better than a heavier one. Eye relief is also very important. You can try your banner but it may not be "the best" scope for that gun.

I have a Leupold 1x4 by 20 on mine. It is light, compact, tough and has good eye relief.

Do some searches on marlinowners dot com. This specific cheap scope has done very well on the guide gun. You can always buy a better scope later if you find this one lacking, but since this one's already paid for give it a try.
