Mauser trigger( not the usual one)

Need some advice on how to safely lighten up this trigger.

There are no adjustments to do this... the sears need to be worked... & very easy to screw up...

that looks just like a Browning FN trigger, and they are adjustable for weight of pull

It's been a while since I saw one but from the looks of the picture the rear screw looks like it is for over travel adjustment.., if that screw actually adjust the spring tension, then it would adjust the weight somewhat...

it would do both, just like a model 70, i think

Important to maintain enough spring pressure to ensure proper sear engagement and impact resistance if rifle is dropped. Have to be a bit cautious in reducing spring tension. The right way is as Guntech says. G et it to a qualified smith with jigs and correct stones for honing.

The screw only adjusts over-travel. It screws into a plunger which contacts the underside of the receiver, with the over-travel spring sitting over the plunger. the spring only supplies force to return the trigger (black) against the sear bar, which has its own spring under the silver colored dome.

I took the trigger assembly apart tonight and saw some grit and burrs on some contact surfaces. Used 320 Grit Clover Compound on some wood to clean up the surfaces. Pull is still on the heavy side , but a lot smoother.

Don't alter that spring but replace it with a lighter spring and experiment...
