Before the bashing starts about that is not shooting, off of a bench with the bags and the front rests, I would take one of these guns knowing that it can shoot that well.

That is 100 record shots that averaged .2186"

Pretty phenonminal shooting at 200 yards.

If that is not shooting, I guess all those "other guys" do that off a bipod with brakes, or offhand?
I hear this often, and just laugh !

Yup, great agg for sure....

That Billy has a great shooting rifle is without doubt.

However, Billy is the one that should get the credit cause he was able to drive that rifle under conditions of the day to that level of accuracy. I am sure all the other competitors were agging well too...

Until they missed.

I sincerely doubt there was no wind/mirage/temp change during the match.

Was this is a US match?

Jerry

Jerry,

yes it was a 4 gun Benchrest match at Rachel's Glenn, Alabama.

From what I heard he used 2 guns for the shoot. Col. Billy Stevens is a highly
recognized smith and shooter in the US. The conditions were supposedly light with rain on the Saturday and light Sunday as well.

All I know is that I could only dream of shooting an Agg like that especially for 100 rounds.

This is great shooting. A 4 gun agg in the low 2's at 200 is great. It should be noted that these are aggregates (aggs), and expressed in moa. The actual average group size would have been 0.4372" on paper for all 20 targets.

Of course certain people on this board continue to insist their rifles with only a simple rebarrel can agg in the 1's all they way to 300. Of course this only happens when no one is around to see it happen.

Usual disclaimers abound, except when the barrel is hot, only when conditions are dead calm, when I do my part etc etc.

God help anyone who calls them out.... the true believers will arrive shortly thereafter to punish those who dare question.

A relative calm with a light rain is possibly the best of all conditions under which to shoot. Nonetheless, that's truly good shooting. I'm impressed. Just to get 2 rifles shooting under .2 moa consistently is a feat in itself. To then shoot them at that level over two days is tougher yet. Regards, Bill

Hahaha! Here we go again!:runaway: You just can't help yourself can you? Do you know Mt. T's favorite saying?

Bill in some regards

I look at it that way. It will be many, many years if ever that I may come close to shooting an agg like that.

Never mind that, but to shoot a 200yard 10 shot World Record as you have done.

Quick question for you. Are you a Picker or a Run-N-Gunner?

Calvin

Great shooting cyc.*!!

Are you one of those fellows that likes a right bolt left port? Are you a free-recoil shooter?

oh yes, I'm delighted to see you use a Krieger. Do you use a .237 or a .236 bore? what twist...13.5?

Sorry Obtunded

but those are not my results. I WISH.................................

On another note.............................................................

I do not shoot Kriegers at this time. I would like to try, but......... well........... lets just leave it at that. The other I am interested in are the Bartleins.

Presently I am shooting Canadian made.

If I were going to try a barrel it would be a 13.5 twist .237.

I am considering getting a couple if the RIGHT deal comes along..............;);)

Calvin[/QUOTE]

Both, sometimes you can run and sometimes you cain't and the smart ones know when. If you have a condition that will hold for 12 seconds or so sometimes you can run. A little hint for you, never start half way through a condition, start at the high end or the low end.

The first "machine gunner" I ever shot with was a fellow from Portland; name of Bill Simpson IIRC. He used a double port, sleeved 700 and shot very fast and very well. He also used a cut rifled barrel from Bob Sherer and was adamant about the necessity of breaking in. I believe the chamber was 222.
I never did get on the run 'n' gun bandwagon. I'm too much of a klutz to try and do anything too quickly. There is every possibility I would throw the rifle off the bench! Using a Wichita mini action, which required the removal of the bolt for each shot, made rapid fire unlikely for sure.
There were times when the ability to shoot more quickly would have been beneficial if only because I would have suffered for a shorter length of time! Regards, Bill.
