Strange eh? This was around 1430 or 1500 hrs. My 3yr old Loved it!

haha, too bad no time for the turkey hunt, I really wanted to try it before I leave ontario in the fall, Also doesn't help I really don't know where I can hunt around here.

there use to be a monster buck, hanging around Borden, few years back, I ususally saw him around the area where the plane fusalage is,
it always pissed me off to walk around with a mag full of blanks when I saw him

lol, yah well that said monster buck almost eat a nissan skyline last fall at 6:30 am.

The skyline was 2 cars ahead of me and missed it by what looked like inches, the skyline driver didnt even brake

dont really know, but if you are serving member, Im pretty sure they will invite you for a hunt:)
I was under impression that any type of hunting is strictly prohibited on bases, ever since someone used helicopters to have a safari type hunt in Pet, but that could have been an urban myth

I hunted in the Wainwright training area last year, it is a draw open to everybody, though it did take us 4 years to get drawn for muzzleloader deer. You are allowed 3 deer, two of which can be bucks and any combination of whitetails or mule deer. I also saw some nice moose and elk while sneaking around. I hadn't been there in 24 years so I didn't remember too much of the training area.

Sadly, Petawawa has been off limits to hunting for some time now due to an incident about ten or more years ago. A general officer who organized a large hunt on the base apparently had a helicopter take a few flights around the training area to determine where the highest concentrations of deer could be found, but by the time it reached the media it was made to sound as though they were hunting from the helicopter. I think that a few deer were improperly tagged leading to some charges for game violations as well, the net result in either case being to have the base shut down to hunting.

There's still opportunities for fishing and hunting at CFB Borden and ATC Meaford, both of which have considerable populations of game animals. There are also opportunities for Rod and Gun Club members to use some of the ranges for rifle and shotgun practice as well.

Cheers,

Frank
